Built-in configurability, sequencing capabilities, and 13 channels of voltage rails for a wide range of mid-power applications
Beijing, China, May 20, 2021 - Qorvo®, a leading supplier of innovative RF solutions for mobile, infrastructure, aerospace and defense applications, has further expanded its multi-time programmable PMIC series with the launch of the company's first constant on-time (COT) programmable power management IC (PMIC), with 13 channels of voltage rails and 25A full output power in a 3.8 x 3.8 mm package. The product is flexible, smaller in size, and uses low quiescent current (LQC) to effectively address power, performance and size challenges in applications such as enterprise solid-state drives (SSDs), virtual reality headsets, security cameras and sports cameras, and AI processors.
The Qorvo ACT88760 PMIC allows designers to change configurations multiple times without special software or firmware, accelerating time to market for enterprise and battery-powered consumer applications. The integrated 13-channel voltage rail, 1 sequencer, and 10 general-purpose IOs (GPIOs) that can be configured for different functions enable industry-leading flexibility. This innovative PMIC also includes 7 DC/DC buck converters using integrated power FETs and 6 low-dropout regulators (LDOs). All of these can be easily configured through the I2C interface. Manufacturers can debug designs and change settings in real time without changing any external components.
"Qorvo continues to advance the flexibility that designers need," said David Briggs, senior director of Qorvo's Programmable Power Management business unit. "The ACT88760 PMIC delivers maximum programmability, power efficiency and functionality in a compact design, helping customers innovate enterprise and consumer electronics with expanded functionality and longer battery life."
The ACT88760 is available now and features:
• Buck 1 and 2: Can operate in dual-phase mode
• Bucks 3 and 4: can operate in dual-phase mode
• Buck 7: Optimized for high efficiency and low output voltage (<1.0V)
• LDO 1 and 2: Each provides 800mA, PSRR (> 70dB), with low IQ (~20µA)
• LDO 5 and 6: Configurable as 400mA LDO or 1.5A load switch
• 4 configurable AVS/DVS levels and 3 configurable high switching frequencies
• Over temperature protection (OTP), OCP, OV and UV protection
• 10 configurable GPIOs for: VID, DVS interrupt, reset, external enable, external PG, regulator on/off, sleep/deep sleep mode, power recovery, and button wake-up
Qorvo's Programmable Power Management business unit provides power management and intelligent motor drive expertise for key growth markets. Its analog and mixed-signal SoC portfolio provides scalable core platforms for charging, driving and embedded digital control systems for industrial, commercial and consumer electronics applications. Qorvo offers Power Application Controller® (PAC™) and DC-DC power management products that can significantly improve system reliability while reducing solution size, cost and system development time.
