AMS (Analog Mixed Signal) technology is a key technology that differentiates Xilinx from other companies and is one of the key innovative technologies that allow Xilinx customers to gain a generational competitive advantage in the market. Steve Logan, Xilinx Analog Marketing Manager, will bring you the latest information on AMS technology and the recent name change to better convey the value of AMS to customers.

What is AMS?
Xilinx 7 series analog mixed signal (AMS) technology brings the most flexible universal analog interface to the industry. This technology was originally named "Agile Mixed Signal", and the flexible interface mentioned allows designers to use programmable logic to replace complex analog signal processing circuits.
Analog Mixed Signal is a widely accepted industry term, so we changed the name of Flexible Mixed Signal Technology to Analog Mixed Signal Technology, which will help customers more clearly understand the value provided by Xilinx. Visit the AMS page for more information.
Some examples of AMS applications
Thanks to the flexibility and wide applicability of AMS technology, more and more customers use AMS to solve their analog signal processing needs. Applications range from simple system monitoring (such as voltage and temperature monitoring) to more complex analog signal monitoring, such as defibrillator sensors, optical sensors, motor circuit monitoring, etc.
How do customers evaluate and utilize AMS?
The AMS platform has many different components, including the AMS101 evaluation card, ChipScope Pro, and the XADC wizard in CoreGenerator. The AMS101 evaluation card has been released with the Kintex-7 KC705, Zynq ZC702, and Virtex-7 VC707 evaluation kits, and will soon be released with the Artix-7 AC701 evaluation kit. Thousands of customers have already pre-ordered these development kits, which come standard with the Xilinx analog-to-digital converter (XADC). AMS is also on display in the Zynq touchscreen FMC demo and the Zynq motor control demo.
