Tower Mounted Amplifier Definition

This technical specification adopts the following definitions:
Forward (downlink) link refers to the link from the base station to the mobile station.
Reverse (uplink) link refers to the link from the mobile station to the base station.
800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz tower-mounted amplifier refers to a high-performance radio frequency amplifier (TMA) for 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz GSM mobile communication networks, which is composed of bandpass filters, low noise amplifiers or high power amplifiers.

Tower top amplifiers mainly include: unidirectional tower top amplifiers and bidirectional tower top amplifiers.

Unidirectional (duplex) tower-top amplifier: refers to a high-performance RF amplification device composed of bandpass filters, low-noise amplifiers and other devices. It is usually installed close to the bottom of the receiving antenna to compensate for the loss caused by the uplink feeder, duplex filter, etc., improve the noise coefficient of the uplink receiving system, and improve the receiving sensitivity of the base station.

Twin unidirectional (duplex) tower-top amplifiers: refers to dual-channel high-performance RF amplification equipment composed of bandpass filters, low-noise amplifiers and other devices (equivalent to the combination of two unidirectional duplex tower amplifiers). It is usually installed close to the bottom of the receiving antenna to compensate for the loss caused by the uplink feeder, duplex filter, etc., improve the noise coefficient of the uplink receiving system, and improve the receiving sensitivity of the base station.

Bidirectional tower-mounted amplifier: refers to a high-performance RF amplification device composed of bandpass filters, low-noise amplifiers, high-power amplifiers, etc. On the basis of the unidirectional tower-mounted amplifier, a high-power amplifier is added to the downlink to amplify the downlink signal power and expand the downlink signal coverage.
