1. Seagate Seagate is
also one of the world's famous hard disk manufacturers. Its Jaguar series hard disk (15,000 rpm) launched in the SCSI market still occupies the leading position so far. Such a manufacturer's strength is certainly beyond doubt. Seagate was the first to manufacture the first 7,200 rpm IDE hard disk. However, because the technology was not very mature, it caused excessive heat and a high return rate. Of course, this did not stop Seagate from entering the IDE market. Later, Seagate launched Barracuda and Barracuda II, becoming the leader in the 7,200 rpm IDE hard disk market. Its main products include the 5400 rpm, 512k cache U10 series and the 7200 rpm, 2m cache Barracuda II series. The market retail price of the U10 series is 700/740/840 for 10g/15g/20g; the most striking feature of the Barracuda II series hard drives is its relatively high average seek time, which once reached 7.6 milliseconds! This record has never been matched in the IDE hard drive market. The price of the Barracuda II series is 830/940/1110 for 10g/15g/20g, and Guangyuanxing is the domestic agent. The advantage of Seagate hard drives is their low price. Models of the same grade are tens or even hundreds of yuan lower than Quantum. This reason makes Seagate hard drives the first choice for cheap computer solutions. Another reason is the high seek speed of the Barracuda II series, which can be much faster than other models of hard drives in random data transmission. The disadvantages are that the noise and heat generation are very unsatisfactory, and the overclocking performance is almost zero, which makes some overclocking enthusiasts stay away from it.
2.
Maxtor entered the domestic market late compared to Quantum and Seagate, but Maxtor is the hard disk manufacturer that attaches the most importance to the Chinese mainland market. Maxtor's general agent in mainland China is Lander Electronics. All Maxtor hard disks, regardless of model, are uniformly packaged in paper boxes + plastic foam. The packaging printing is also relatively exquisite, and the box also comes with a series of accessories such as instructions and warranty cards. Maxtor's mainstream hard disk products include Diamond 4, Diamond 5, Diamond 6, Diamond 7, as well as Diamond 1, 2, 3, and Star Diamond 1, 2, 3. When buying, you must go to Lander Electronics' counter to buy, so as not to be fooled. The advantage of Maxtor hard disk is that its after-sales service is very good, and Diamond 4 is very good in terms of noise and heat generation. The disadvantage is the same as Seagate hard disk, with almost no overclocking performance. However, in general, Maxtor's hard disk is quite satisfactory in all aspects, and the price is also relatively reasonable. If there is no special requirement for hard disk performance, Maxtor hard disk is indeed a good choice. (Only Maxtor hard drives on the market dare to promise a three-year warranty, which I think is pretty good.)
3. IBM
Speaking of IBM, I'm sure everyone knows it. This blue giant has too many legends. The first hard disk was manufactured by IBM; IBM hard disk was the first to use GMR (giant magnetoresistive head); IBM hard disk was the first to increase the capacity of a single disk to 10G, 15G, 20G...; IBM hard disk is currently the only hard disk that can fit 5 platters in the disk body; IBM is the only hard disk manufacturer that produces 7200 rpm and 5400 rpm hard disk platters separately... Currently, the mainstream products of IBM hard disks are the 40GV series with 5400 rpm and 512K cache and the 75GXP series with 7200 rpm and 2M cache. The former is 20G per platter, and the latter is 15G per platter. They are slightly better than other brands in terms of transmission speed, and the price is not expensive. The only common 40GV series currently has a 20G model, with a quoted price of 680 yuan, and the 75GXP series has a 2M cache. The series has two models, 15g and 30g, priced at 1,000 yuan and 1,640 yuan respectively. The advantage of IBM hard disks is that they are technologically advanced. Many advanced technologies are often first adopted by IBM hard disks. Their cost performance is also very good. It is especially worth mentioning that the overclocking performance of IBM hard disks is also good, second only to Quantum. Moreover, foreign countries tend to be more optimistic about overclocking. Its overclocking performance is evident. The disadvantage is that there is a lack of small-capacity hard disks for the low-end market. The smallest is 15g, which often loses a lot of the market for cheap computers. There are some other brands, such as Fujitsu, Western Digital, Samsung, etc., whose products are unique, but because of their small market share, they are not easy to buy, so I will not say more here.
