When SM2..0 is 001, the SLEEP instruction puts the MCU into noise suppression mode. In this mode, the CPU stops running, while the ADC, external interrupt, two-line serial address match, timer/counter 2 and watchdog continue to work (if enabled). This sleep mode only stops clkI/O, clkCPU and clkFLASH, while other clocks continue to work.
This mode improves the ADC noise environment and makes the conversion more accurate. When the ADC is enabled, entering this mode will automatically start an AD conversion. The ADC conversion end interrupt, external reset, watchdog reset, BOD reset, two-wire serial address match, timer/counter 2 interrupt, SPM/EEPROM ready interrupt, external interrupt INT0, INT1 or pin level change interrupt can wake up the MCU from ADC noise suppression mode.
