Even with a current control chopper mode like SpreadCycle, there is still a little audible noise and vibration due to motor coil differences, a few millivolts of adjustment noise on the sense resistor, and PWM jitter. According to the International Energy Agency, motors account for 45% of the world's total electricity consumption. In the absence of feedback from the stepper motor, the system always assumes that the motor is running at the set current. Conventional motor drive currents are constant currents, that is, the power consumption of the motor is constant, and its drive current remains the same regardless of whether the load is large or small. In fact, in many application scenarios, load changes are very frequent, and low load and high power consumption make energy meaningless waste. Closed-loop operation of the motor can effectively improve the efficiency and overall performance of the application by reducing the current when the motor is in standby and increasing the current under load conditions. However, if the load is to be monitored to achieve closed-loop control of the drive current, the increased cost is usually unacceptable for many applications.
