2011 is the first year of the 12th Five-Year Plan. The relevant government departments have increased their support for the LED industry and raised its development goals. It is reported that during the 12th Five-Year Plan, the main development goals of my country's LED industry are to improve the luminous efficiency of LED chips, strengthen the layout of white light LED patents and accelerate the formulation of LED lighting standards.
According to relevant plans, by 2015, the luminous efficiency of white light LEDs in my country will reach the international advanced level of the same period, occupy 30% of the general lighting market, replace 70% of imported high-brightness chips, and realize the localization of MOCVD core equipment and key supporting materials; around major strategic products such as backlight sources and automotive lighting, strengthen technology integration, realize large-scale demonstration applications, the industry scale will reach 500 billion yuan, and create 500,000 new jobs; achieve annual electricity savings of 140 billion kilowatt-hours, annual savings of 49 million tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and dust emissions by 140 million tons.
When asked about the future development of the LED industry, the heads of all participating companies expressed their willingness to work hard towards this goal.
However, since there is no unified LED light source industry standard in China, LED companies basically act independently during production, and the quality of their products varies greatly, which has led some companies to have doubts about the domestic market environment. The most criticized issue about LED products is the service life of LED lamps. At present, the theoretical service life of LED light source products is more than 50,000 hours, but the actual service life of products produced by some companies is far lower than this standard, which casts a shadow on the quality and reputation of LED light source products and restricts the development of the LED industry to a certain extent. The heads of the participating companies all expressed the hope that a unified industry standard can be formulated as soon as possible.
Formulating industry standards is a must for the LED industry, but there are still some difficulties. LED light source products are special, they are optoelectronic integrated products, among which the light parameter standards are relatively easy to formulate, while the electrical standards are complicated, which requires the government to work with large domestic enterprises to take the lead in guiding the formulation of industry standards.
