Bourns’ latest over-temperature protection miniature circuit breaker components—all series meet automotive grade and AEC-Q200 standards^
The Bourns® AD and SD series meet the stringent regulations of the automotive industry, with manufacturing facilities certified to IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3 inspected
August 2, 2023 - Bourns, the United States, a world-renowned leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components for power, protection and sensing solutions, grandly launches the AD and SD series of miniature thermal protector (TCO) small circuit breaker devices . This series has completed automotive regulatory audits and complies with AEC-Q200 equivalent standards^. In addition, Bourns' miniature circuit breaker manufacturing plant has obtained IATF 16949 certification and passed the VDA 6.3 process audit requirements. As surface mount, ultra-miniature over-temperature protection devices, Bourns® automotive-grade miniature circuit breakers provide automotive application developers and users with a high standard of temperature monitoring safety and warranty confidence.
Bourns® AD and SD Series Miniature Circuit Breakers
Bourns' two latest miniature circuit breaker series offer a number of industry-leading functional advantages, providing automotive designers with cycle-resettable, accurate and reliable over-temperature protection in a wide range of heater circuit applications. They are available in multiple mounting options - surface mount package for the SD series and axial leaded/solderable package for the AD series. In addition, both series provide non-automatic reset (self-holding) or automatic reset (non-self-holding) function options, and a wide trigger temperature range from 55 °C to 150 °C to meet the requirements of a variety of application scenarios .
"Bourns' AD Series and SD Series miniature circuit breakers provide automotive application developers and users with a high level of temperature monitoring safety and quality assurance," said Brian Ahearne, vice president of products for Bourns Thermal & Precision . "These independent over-temperature protection devices Providing independent over-temperature protection, its device can be installed in direct contact with the heating component (SMD or soldered component), and due to its miniature package size and wide trigger temperature range, it will become a solution that does not have over-temperature protection function or requires the use of bulky traditional solutions. Ideal for heater circuits. We believe that the new Bourns automotive-grade miniature circuit breakers will bring more efficient and safer solutions to the automotive industry to meet the needs of different application scenarios.”
Bourns®'s new AD and SD series of miniature circuit breakers are now available, and the entire range is RoHS* compliant and halogen-free**.
^Passed Bourns internal AEC-Q200 equivalent testing standards.
*RoHS Directive 2015/863 of March 31, 2015 and its annexes.
**Bourns products qualify as "halogen-free" if (a) the bromine content is less than or equal to 900 ppm (b) the chlorine content is less than or equal to 900 ppm, and (c) the sum of bromine and chlorine content is less than or equal to 1500 ppm.
