Bourns® New High Power Resistor Series Demonstrates Excellent Pulse Load Capability, Lowers Resistance Temperature Coefficient for More Reliable Inrush Current Limiting
The CRG2512 series is AEC-Q200 qualified and is the best current sensing solution. It uses metal strip resistor components to provide very low inductance and a wide resistance range.
September 21, 2022 - Bourns, a world-renowned leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, has launched a new series of high-power resistors. The Bourns® CRG2512 series uses a rugged metal strip resistor component to provide excellent pulse load capability and low temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR). These features help improve the reliability of the resistor, making it the best inrush current limiting solution for capacitors, hot insertion, and snubber circuits in various current sensing, power supplies, stepper motor drives, and input amplifier applications.
Bourns' new resistors are available in a 2512 (6432 metric) surface mount package size with power ratings of 1 or 2 watts, TCRs as low as ±50 ppm/°C, and operating temperature ranges up to 170°C. Due to their metal resistor element construction, the Bourns® CRG2512 series offers very low inductance, low noise, and excellent reliability over a wide range of resistance values from 110 to 680 milliohms .
Bourns continues to expand its portfolio of surface mount metal strip resistors designed for current sensing applications. Current flowing through a resistor generates an easily measurable voltage that is proportional to the current through the resistor. Current sensing resistors are growing in popularity due to their high measurement accuracy and relatively low cost compared to other technologies.
Bourns® CRG2512 High Power Resistors are now available and all series are RoHS compliant* and halogen-free**.
*RoHS Directive 2015/863 of 31 March 2015 and Annexes.
**Bourns products qualify as “halogen-free” if (a) the bromine content is 900 ppm or less, (b) the chlorine content is 900 ppm or less, and (c) the sum of the bromine and chlorine content is 1500 ppm or less.
