OmniVision Group Creates High-Efficiency 28V 2A Synchronous Buck Converter WD1502F
Technology changes life.
Artificial intelligence and Internet of Things technologies are changing with each passing day. With their empowerment, the application scenarios of smart homes and smart offices are becoming more and more diverse, and the products are becoming more and more popular. Sweeping robots are such products that can free people from complicated housework. They stand out among a number of emerging home smart devices and are increasingly popular among the public.
OmniVision's image sensors are widely used in sweeping robots, sweeper-mop machines and other cleaning robots. With sensitive "eyes" and continuous iterations of path planning and intelligent obstacle avoidance algorithms, sweeping robots have gradually gotten rid of labels such as "toys" and "useless", and have become good housework helpers that millions of families rely on.
Not limited to image sensors, OmniVision also provides power management solutions in sweeping robot applications. In battery-powered devices, standby and operating time determine the success or failure of the product. High-efficiency power management solutions are essential. As a Chinese semiconductor design company ranked among the top in the world, OmniVision's synchronous step-down DC-DC converter, WD1502F, can provide 2A continuous output current, input voltage up to 28V, and peak efficiency of more than 94%. It is very suitable for the application of multi-core series battery systems such as sweeping robots.
Main technical features of WD1502F:
• Operating input range reaches 4.5V-28V
• Typical switching frequency of 650kHz
• 2A continuous output current
• Shutdown current as low as 2μA, quiescent current 60μA
• Internal 5ms soft start
• Peak efficiency >94%
• 150mΩ internal power HS MOSFET switch
• 75mΩ internal synchronous LS MOSFET switch
• Cycle-by-cycle over-current protection
The WD1502F is equipped with an internal synchronous power switch, which improves efficiency while eliminating the need for an external Schottky diode, further reducing the number of components and saving design space. In addition, the WD1502F uses pulse width modulation (PWM), and the fixed switching frequency for normal operation is 650kHz; under light load current, it will enter the pulse skipping modulation (PSM) operation mode and maintain high efficiency and low output ripple over the entire load current range. Therefore, electronic equipment can achieve efficient operation, energy reduction and consumption reduction by equipping this DC-DC buck converter.
Efficiency curve
In addition, WD1502F has perfect safety and environmental performance. The product has short circuit protection, thermal protection and input undervoltage lockout functions, which can effectively avoid potential safety hazards in the step-down conversion process. The package adopts TSOT-23-6L, which is lead-free and halogen-free, and implements the principle of environmental friendliness.
Typical application circuit
WD1502F is particularly suitable for household appliances and industrial fields powered by 12V and 24V distributed power buses. At present, with its wide input voltage, low quiescent current, low output ripple and other characteristics, this product has been widely used in security monitoring, household appliances and other fields.
OmniVision Group is committed to providing sensor solutions, analog solutions, and touch and display solutions. Adhering to the concept of technological innovation, it helps customers solve technical challenges in the fields of mobile phones, security, automobiles, wearable devices, IoT, communications, computers, consumer electronics, industry, and medical care to meet the growing demand for smart life and green energy.
