Dialog Semiconductor (Dialog: DLG), a supplier of highly integrated power management, AC/DC power conversion, charging and Bluetooth low energy technology, today announced the launch of the latest power converter IC series - DA9318, to complete its recently released high-efficiency charging product family. Let's learn about the relevant content with the power management editor.
Dialog Semiconductor launches new power converter series to further enhance its smartphone fast charging solutions
The key advantage of the DA9318 series is the conversion efficiency of up to 98%, which minimizes system power loss and heat generation, making compact consumer applications safer. Unlike the existing topology that uses low voltage and allows the charging current to pass directly through the cable, the design of the DA9318 series allows the use of standard 3A USB cables to achieve 6A charging current, which not only doubles the power but also significantly reduces the cost of fast charging applications by 35%. There are two products in this series: DA9318L provides a maximum charging current of 8A; DA9318M provides a maximum charging current of 10A. They support 35W and 44W charging power respectively.
This innovation is an industry first and is ideal for addressing the design challenges of increasing battery capacity in today’s smart devices. As smartphone batteries approach 4,000 mAh to provide longer battery life and support greater computing power, manufacturers are constantly looking for advanced charging solutions that provide high efficiency, safety, and low heat generation. The DA9318 series includes comprehensive safety and protection features to ensure end-to-end system safety from portable power adapters to smartphone batteries.
