If IKEA claims the second place, I am afraid no one would dare to claim the first place, and there would not even be any qualified followers behind it.
Picture: The greatest significance of IKEA is not only to sell good designs at a low price, but also to solve the long-standing national pain point of Chinese people: "small house, little money and low quality of life".
After the role of businessman, IKEA's nature as an educator is actually more core. It brings the "sense of design" of home furnishings into ordinary people's homes through cheap and popular products (note that this is very important. Artists are great, but a high threshold is not a good thing. The other side of being too high-brow is actually self-righteous. Only those who make big designs that the masses can afford are qualified to be called "masters"), which instantly improves the aesthetic standards of the masses' homes. It has made an indelible contribution.
When IKEA entered mainland China and opened its first stores more than a decade ago, improving the lighting environment was one of the first core issues it addressed for Chinese consumers.
Therefore, the first batch of lighting products selected by IKEA’s buyers for the Chinese market is related to IKEA’s first lesson in basic home design for Chinese consumers. Can you guess what they are made of?
The following are mural spotlights with various external power supplies:
In Chinese homes at that time, "whether there is accent lighting on the wall " was an important indicator of whether a home was "high-end". So even though it was troublesome to run wires (external power spotlights needed to be solved by pulling sockets), this small spotlight was instantly sought after by many young people. You know, "having a spotlight that can illuminate paintings" is a very high-end thing.
Picture: The mural on the wall has a lamp, and the taste rises instantly. Later, the usage was extended to the spotlight of the bookshelf, and the core is to solve the problem of vertical illumination in the living room:
Later, the improved small table lamp was also often used across borders to illuminate murals:
So, how to instantly improve the quality of your home? The answer is: make good use of the spotlights on the murals.
Recently, a friend asked me, "I made a lighting plan for my new home based on what you wrote, but what should I do with my photo wall and paintings?" Oh, sorry, I forgot that there is a literary youth in every loser's heart. In addition to being warm, a home should also be bigger!
Before we talk about the lighting of murals (whether it is a wall decoration such as a painting, a photo, etc., it is collectively referred to as murals here), we should first say a few words about the layout of murals. There are many ways to hang murals, such as symmetrical hanging, balanced hanging, repeated hanging, upper and lower horizontal hanging, radial hanging, etc. Oh my God, how can an old rookie survive with so many hanging methods? Let's just use a simple and crude lighting method!
Application premise: The ceiling height of general commercial and residential buildings is 2.3~2.5 meters; the midpoint height of general murals is at the horizon, about 1.5m.
Light source selection: medium-angle spotlight (beam angle 30°~50°), 35W halogen lamp cup or 5~7W LED spotlight.
How to determine the installation position of the lamp?
Please remember this golden position: 30° projection!
Figure: Elevation diagram. The lamp is 600mm away from the wall, with a projection angle of about 30°
Figure: Schematic diagram. If the pictures are large or long, you can use more lights. You need to pay attention to the distance between lights. It should not be too far. Generally, the distance between lights and the wall should be close.
Picture: If the mural has a glass mirror, shining it vertically will cause glare. In this case, you can shine it at a slight angle, so that the mirror reflection will not enter your eyes. How much angle? Still 30 degrees!
Now that you have mastered the basics, you can share it! Want to learn more? Please continue reading before sharing.
There are too many points to complain about the mural lighting . The old rookie feels that he is no longer able to complain, but as a chatterbox, he has to say it.
Picture: Are you sure you are taking a photo of the painting? The problem is: the light is too close to the wall! Remember the 30° rule above?
Figure: For large murals and large-area hanging paintings, it is not appropriate to use a single-piece lighting method. It may be better to use a whole-wall lighting washing method.
Picture: This is the front view ~ Look at the uniformity, it is really excellent.
Picture: Well, the picture is big, so three lights are used. But… those two spotlights on the left and right, are you looking out? Why is the big guy in the middle sticking his head out so long?
After talking about installation, let's look at choosing lights. The first thing is what kind of lamps to choose. Some people will definitely say to use spotlights! Old rookies certainly know, but what kind of spotlights should be used? Common spotlights include the following:
1. Recessed-mounted spotlights are a classic style with good effects and no glare. You can install this one at home, dear! Generally, the adjustable tilt angle does not exceed 30°.
2. Surface-mounted, or ceiling-mounted. Suitable for fixed installation locations and when a larger inclination angle needs to be adjusted.
3. Track type, also known as guide rail type or road rail type. It is suitable for occasions that require flexible position adjustment and large inclination adjustment, such as galleries, exhibition halls, etc.
Figure: In such an exhibition hall, the position or size of exhibits may be changed at any time, so installing track spotlights is much more flexible.
Wait, it seems that sometimes the lamp is not wrongly selected and the installation location is OK, but why is it still so weird? Oh, then you should understand after looking at the following two pictures.
