  With the rapid development of Internet, the mutual promotion of communication and computers, the requirements for power supply quality of precision electronic equipment used in them, such as computers, programmable switches, industrial process control and real-time control and computing systems in various industries, are becoming higher and higher. We need a new generation of smarter, more flexible and more reliable network UPS systems.

  Intelligent Network UPS System

  The network UPS intelligent system mainly manages the entire network, which means adding RS232, R485 interfaces and SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) card communication interfaces to the output end of the UPS host. These interfaces are connected to the corresponding communication interfaces on the server, router, gateway and other devices through dedicated communication cables, so that the UPS power supply and the computer network can form an intelligent UPS power supply system with monitoring functions. At present, there are two main aspects of UPS network intelligent technology: one is to strengthen the new functions of UPS and coordinate with the software on the server, so that in addition to completing the most basic uninterrupted functions, UPS can also realize network event recording, fault alarm, UPS parameter automatic test analysis, adjustment functions, etc.; the other is to strengthen the UPS energy-saving function. The intelligent network UPS system combines the traditional UPS with the hardware interface connected to the computer and specially designed software to provide a complete power management solution.

  Realization of Intelligent Network UPS System

  The computer and UPS power supply communicate through the interface. In order to make the fault information of the power supply system and the UPS status information reach the computer system, the automatic query of the connection cable between the computer and UPS must be completed first. To ensure the accuracy of communication, it must be initialized according to the specified communication protocol. Network design software and hardware products are usually based on SNMP, which interacts with the management information base on the network; by issuing SNMP commands, network administrators can control the network by retrieving information and issuing control commands on network devices; there is also the ability to handle message soft interrupts (message soft interrupts are messages that warn the network management station of important events such as UPS using battery power).

  Network UPS can use the existing computer communication interface to connect with the UPS communication interface, and then install the corresponding monitoring software on the computer. With the monitoring software, the computer establishes communication with the UPS, the computer sends instructions regularly, and the UPS returns information within the specified time. When the power supply is abnormal, the microcontroller inside the UPS will send the abnormal information to the computer in time, and the monitoring software will issue an alarm message on the computer to remind the operator or network administrator to deal with it in time. If the relevant personnel are not on site, the monitoring software will automatically terminate the running programs of various software at the end of the UPS power supply time, prohibit users from logging in, automatically save to disk, keep the site, etc., and send warning information to users through the network to inform about power supply abnormal information. At the same time, the monitoring software also has a complete UPS self-test function, which tests the status and battery capacity of the UPS, etc. It can display and record the UPS output, input voltage, frequency, load, temperature, and battery capacity in data and graphic form, so that users can analyze, diagnose, and take precautions.

  Advantages of Intelligent Network UPS System

  Networking Through the SNMP standard, the operation of any UPS in the network can be monitored or managed, and UPS status parameters can be managed remotely.

  Intelligence: Due to the application of microprocessor technology, UPS system has realized intelligence. Intelligent network UPS generally adopts 8-bit or 16-bit microprocessor, and the serial interface of microprocessor communicates with server, PC or terminal to transmit data, including UPS working status, input and output parameters and various instructions.

  On the one hand, intelligent UPS realizes self-status monitoring during equipment operation and pre-processes some fault phenomena to ensure that it always runs smoothly and reliably; on the other hand, it realizes two-way data communication between computers and networks and UPS, and users can monitor the operating status of the controllable UPS power supply in real time on each node in the computer and network.

  Automation refers to some self-tests that the UPS power supply automatically completes to achieve all-round automatic supervision functions.

  Real-time Real-time requires monitoring the status of each part of the circuit and obtaining relevant parameters of the host at any time.

  Protective UPS provides targeted protection, and UPSs that protect different electronic components have different characteristics. When the mains power goes out, the UPS can instantly switch to the backup power supply, so that the computer can still run smoothly during a short power outage without data loss or system shutdown; in the case of a very long mains power outage, the UPS device can start the power management software to achieve a safe computer system shutdown process and ensure data integrity; after the UPS battery in the PC workstation is exhausted, it will quickly return to a fully charged state in preparation for the next power outage.

  Security is an issue that must be addressed in remote management of information systems. In addition to the usual user name and password protection, various security authentication methods are used. Users can set their own remote management methods and automatically close remote management channels that are deemed unnecessary, further improving the security of remote management to ensure the security of the entire network communication system.

  Digital UPS software replaces a large number of analog components, greatly improving the integration of the product. Moreover, by modifying the software, the various characteristics of the system can be easily adjusted, which enhances the flexibility and intelligence of the system.
