In high-speed circuit design, the impedance of the transmission line is very important. The impedance calculation function of PowerPCB can easily check whether the transmission line impedance meets the design requirements.

1. In setup/layer definition, define the corresponding layer that needs to be defined as ground or power layer as CAM PLANE.

2. Enter the thickness of each layer, the dielectric constant of the plate, etc. in layer thickness.

The meaning from top to bottom is as follows:

Coating: The insulating layer of green oil coated on the surface

Component: copper thickness of top layer

Substrate: base

Plane: The thickness of the copper layer

Prepreg: Prepreg material. It can be seen in the settings of powerpcb. For a four-layer board, it is generally the material between the two inner layers (ground layer and power layer).

Plane: The thickness of the power layer copper

Substrate: base

Component: Copper thickness of the Bottom layer

Coating: The insulating layer of green oil coated on the surface

The parameters of Prepreg and substrate should be provided by the PCB manufacturer.

3. After setting, select a network and press CTRL+Q, then click the net button to see the characteristic impedance, delay, length, etc. of the net.
