The power capacitor protector can be combined with the switching capacitor contactor, reactive power compensation controller, fuse, etc. to form a power capacitor control system. It is mainly used to protect the power capacitor and compensation circuit from overcurrent, short circuit, inrush current, harmonics, overvoltage and other faults. As a new type of overcurrent protection product, the power capacitor protector fills the gap in domestic power capacitor protectors and can be widely used in power factor automatic compensation control circuits.

Application Notes of Power Capacitor Protector

1. The working power supply of the protector should be consistent with the nominal voltage.

2. The wiring of the protector terminals should be correct and the contact should be good.

3. Regular inspections should be carried out to ensure reliable operation.

4. After the protector indicates an action, you must carefully observe the type of fault shown and carefully check the cause of the fault. It can only be operated again after the fault is correctly handled.

5. When the capacitor is put into operation, the operating indicator light is flashing. If an overcurrent trip occurs in a very short time, use a clamp ammeter to measure the capacitor's time operating current. If the current value exceeds 1.35 times the rated current, it means that the overcurrent action is normal within the protection range. Otherwise, it may be caused by excessive harmonic content in the power grid.

6. Basic judgment on the operating current status of the capacitor: When the capacitor is put into normal operation, the operating indicator light flashes at a certain frequency. If the flashing frequency is very low or there is no flashing, it means that the operating current of the capacitor is very small, or there may be no current. This may be because the contactor in the control circuit is not working or the capacitance of the capacitor itself is reduced.

7. After the protector is self-locked or the fault alarm is triggered, the self-locking light will be on, indicating that there is a large current fault in the capacitor circuit. The cause needs to be carefully checked and the device can be reset and started only after the fault is eliminated to avoid repeated expansion of the fault.
