According to foreign media reports, playing football is fun and good for exercise, but now it can also provide electricity for your home.

A research team of eight Harvard graduates from the non-profit social enterprise Uncharted Play has invented a football that can generate electricity, and the electricity it generates can provide continuous lighting for a small LED lamp. The researchers named this football "SOCCKET", and there is a pendulum inside the football. When the football rolls, the pendulum will swing continuously, gathering kinetic energy, and then convert a connected generator into a rechargeable battery. After 30 minutes of exercise, the electricity from the football can supply an LED lamp for continuous lighting for 3 hours.

In addition, the football is made of airtight, waterproof vinyl foam, which means it is very durable and can be used in the most intense football games. The inventor of this power-generating football, which weighs only one ounce more than a normal football, hopes to distribute it to poor areas as a sustainable off-grid power supply device. SOCCKET has now been shipped to poor areas in South and North America. Many families who do not have access to stable electricity and teachers who teach students about energy have begun to use this football.

Currently, a few hundred of these balls are produced each week, but the research team also hopes to sell them through the US crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. In addition, Uncharted Play has also launched a fundraising campaign to raise funds to purchase more equipment to increase production.

Uncharted Play hopes to distribute the ball to underprivileged areas as a sustainable off-grid power source.

Hundreds of the balls are produced each week, but the inventor hopes to expand production.
