MILPITAS, CA – August 20, 2013 – Linear Technology Corporation introduces new high reliability MP grade, extended temperature range versions of the LTC3245, a general purpose 250mA high voltage buck-boost charge pump. The MP grade features an operating junction temperature range of -55°C to +150°C. The LTC3245 uses switched capacitor fractional conversion to maintain regulation over a wide input voltage range of 2.7V to 38V and produces a regulated output of 3.3V, 5V or adjustable (2.5V to 5V). Internal circuitry automatically selects a 2:1, 1:1 or 1:2 conversion ratio to optimize efficiency over varying input voltage and load conditions. Low operating current (18μA at no load, 4μA in shutdown) and low external parts count (3 small ceramic capacitors, no inductor) make the LTC3245 ideal for low power and space constrained automotive applications such as ECU/CAN transceiver power, industrial housekeeping supplies, and efficient low power 12V to 5V conversion.
The LTC3245's unique constant frequency architecture features lower switching edge change rates, resulting in lower conducted and radiated noise than traditional switching regulators. The device offers pin-selectable Burst Mode® operation, allowing the user to trade slightly higher output ripple for higher efficiency and lower quiescent current. Other features include few external components and stability with ceramic capacitors, soft-start circuitry to prevent excessive current at startup, and short-circuit and overtemperature protection.
The LTC3245 MP-grade device is available in a compact 12-lead MSOP package with a backside thermal pad. Pricing starts at $7.55 each in 1,000-piece quantities and is available from stock. For more information, visit www.linear.com.cn/product/LTC3245.
