Under the same lighting effects and conditions, LED downlights are more than 80% more energy-efficient than traditional light sources, and their lifespan is more than 10 times longer than traditional lamps. They also have the characteristics of high luminous efficiency, easy regulation, and wide range of applications, and therefore have been continuously praised and loved by consumers.

Due to the huge demand for LED downlights, there are many LED downlights on the market. Manufacturers must conduct effective testing before they leave the factory to prevent defective lamps. The following article will teach you how to simply distinguish the LED downlights caused by cold soldering and the solutions. I hope it can provide help for you.

1. Identify the dead light of the cold solder joint

A relatively simple but very effective way to identify dead LED downlights is to heat the dead lights. We heat the LED leads of some dead LED downlights to 200-300℃. If the LED downlights can light up at this time, but as the lead temperature decreases, the LED downlights turn from bright to dark, which proves that the LED downlights are poorly soldered. When this happens, it means that the LED downlights are dead due to poor soldering.

2. How to deal with LED dead lights

1. Neglecting a certain link in the packaging process is the cause of the LED downlight failure. If the staff accidentally applies too much or too little silver glue (for single solder joint chips), it will be unacceptable. Too much glue will return to the chip gold pad, causing a short circuit, and too little glue will make the chip not sticky. The combination of the four parameters of pressure, time, temperature, and power must be appropriate. Otherwise, too much pressure will easily crush the chip, and too little pressure will easily cause cold soldering.

2. Deal with the damage of static electricity to LED downlight wicks, which causes the PN junction of LED chips to change and lead to dead lights. The PN junction of LED chips changes and leads to dead lights are mostly caused by the staff themselves. The amount of static electricity on the human body is related to the different fabrics of clothes people wear and their physical constitution. When we take off clothes at night in autumn and winter, it is easy to see the discharge between clothes. Therefore, we should wear anti-static clothing and wear anti-static rings when working. The anti-static rings should be well grounded. There is an anti-static effect of an electrostatic ring that does not need to be grounded. It is not recommended to use such items. If the staff violates the operating procedures, they should receive corresponding warning education, which also serves the purpose of informing others.
