Since low-power voltage regulator diodes are small in size, it is difficult to mark the model on the tube, so some foreign products use color rings to indicate their nominal stable voltage values. Just like color ring resistors, the colors of the rings are brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, gray, white, and black, which are used to represent the values 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 0 respectively.

Some Zener diodes have only 2 color rings, while others have 3. The first ring is closest to the cathode, followed by the second and third rings.

There are only two color rings. The nominal stable voltage is a two-digit number, i.e. "×× V" (tens of volts). The first ring represents the value of the tens digit of the voltage, and the second ring represents the value of the ones digit. For example, if the colors of the first and second rings are red and yellow respectively, it is 24V.

There are 3 color rings, and the second and third color rings are the same color. The nominal stable voltage is an integer with a decimal point, that is, "×.× V" (a few volts). The first ring represents the value of the unit digit of the voltage. The second and third color rings (the same color) together represent the value of the tenth digit (the first decimal point). For example: the colors of the first, second, and third rings are gray, red, and red, respectively, which means 8.2V.

There are 3 color rings, and the second and third color rings are different colors. The nominal stable voltage is a two-digit integer with a decimal point, that is, "××.× V" (tens of 10 volts). The first ring represents the value of the voltage in the tens place. The second ring represents the value of the ones place. The third ring represents the value of the tenth place (the first place after the decimal point). However, this situation is rare, such as: brown, black, yellow (10.4V) and brown, black, gray (10.8V) Commonly used voltage regulator diode model comparison table (Note: The following diode model starts with 1, such as 1N4728, 1N4729, etc.)
