In addition to focusing on the audio and energy fields, Cirrus Logic launched the CS161X series of digital LED controllers after three years of intensive research, announcing that the company has officially entered the LED lighting market. David Biven, marketing director of the EXL department, said that the company is optimistic about the large market of LED lighting. However, after being optimistic for many years, the market development is still not as smooth as expected. The reasons are nothing more than two aspects, one is price and the other is performance. To popularize LED lighting, solving technical problems is much more important than solving price problems.
David Biven introduced that according to statistics in the United States, 75% of the problems with LED lights are caused by incompatibility with dimmers, such as flashing, no light, no dimming, limited dimming range or inability to switch on and off. These problems may seem small, but they directly affect users' confidence in using LEDs. To address this problem, the industry generally uses analog methods. Cirrus Logic breaks through industry inertia and uses digital methods to solve this thorny problem. The CS161X series products launched use Cirrus Logic's new digital TruDim technology, which allows the controller to intelligently identify the type of dimmer in use and adjust the compatibility algorithm. After testing, CS161X has achieved nearly 100% compatibility. During the use of the product, no flashing, no light, and other problems can be seen. More importantly, such good dimming performance will not bring more cost burden to customers.
Cirrus Logic's CS161X series products solve the problems that many manufacturers have been working on for many years, improve the user experience of LED, and are called "king of dimming" by customers. David Biven said that after launching the CS161X series to solve the compatibility problem of dimmers, a product CS163X will be launched later that can not only solve the compatibility of dimmers but also solve the color mixing problem. The next step is to focus on research to reduce the cost of dimming, so that it is as close as possible to the price of LED lights without dimming performance. David Biven revealed that in the future, the cost of products will be reduced by solving the complexity of the system.
