LED lighting has become one of the most eye-catching high-tech fields in the 21st century due to its advantages of energy saving, environmental protection and long life. Japan began to implement the "21st Century Light Plan" as early as 1998, the United States began to promote the "National Semiconductor Lighting Plan" in 2000, and the European Union also launched the "Rainbow Plan" in the same year. The purpose is to promote LED lighting to replace incandescent lamps and fluorescent lamps and enter the general lighting field as soon as possible.
In 2003, China, led by the Ministry of Science and Technology, officially launched the "National Semiconductor Lighting Project", proposing the strategy of "taking industrialization as the goal, promoting development through application, and cultivating an internationally competitive Chinese semiconductor lighting emerging industry". It has received positive responses from the domestic semiconductor industry and lighting industry. Everyone hopes that through hard work, China can occupy a place in the fiercely competitive global semiconductor lighting market, and even more hopes that our Chinese self-innovative products can be used in it.
The general lighting market is the largest market for LED light sources and also the target market for LED light sources. However, we are also clearly aware that for LED lighting products to truly enter thousands of households, major breakthroughs in technology and cost are needed. Currently, LUMI LED S has achieved a luminous efficiency of 100lm/w in the laboratory , giving everyone confidence in LED lighting entering the home.
The five major international LED lighting companies all agree that LEDs can enter general lighting within 5 years, and it is estimated that it will take 6 to 8 years in China. Application 1: Backlight LCD backlight market is one of the largest application markets for LED products, mainly focusing on the backlight of TFT color screens. LED backlight has good color rendering characteristics and is environmentally friendly, and is the mainstream of the LCD backlight market.
LED backlights have been successfully applied to mobile phones and other PDA products, and the market exceeded 10 billion yuan in 2004. In recent years, the growth of mobile phone production has slowed down. At the same time, OLED has a low cost and tends to replace small-size LCDs. It is expected that the absolute value of the demand for small-size LCD backlights will still be large, but the growth rate will decline. According to reports, OSRAM has recently launched an 82-inch LED backlight concept product that can generate 10,000cd per square meter of brightness , and the color saturation is 50% higher than that of traditional CCFL light sources.
Application 2: Automobile Automobile will also be a high-growth market for LED products. Developed countries are vigorously developing automotive LED lights because LED lamps have the advantages of energy saving, small size and flat installation, fast response, easy computer control, and shock resistance. The application range ranges from display panels , decorative lights, and lighting lamps inside the car to brake lights, turn signals, and indicator lights outside the car. Several well-known international lighting companies have launched concept products for headlights. The latest report shows that Japan's Nishitetsu Electronics Co., Ltd. has successfully developed LED modules suitable for headlights , and 3.5W can produce a 245lm beam. Due to the high threshold of the automotive market, the automotive LED market is currently mainly occupied by HP, OSRAM, SIEMENS and several Japanese companies, and Taiwan's optoelectronic companies also occupy a part of the market share. This year, China's automobile production ranks third in the world, and will continue to grow rapidly in the future, so there is a lot to do in the automotive market for developing LED products.
Application 3: Light color lighting The light color lighting market mainly includes the outdoor landscape lighting market and the indoor decorative lighting market. The outdoor landscape lighting market is mainly composed of guardrail lights, high- power floodlights, digital walls, underground lights, tree-shaped lights, colored lights, etc. It is currently a hot market in China. In particular, the construction of the five national lighting project demonstration bases has been given key support by local governments, which has effectively promoted the development of the LED lighting industry. For example, the Xiamen Municipal Government seized the favorable opportunity of the 2005 China (Xiamen) International Semiconductor Lighting Forum in April this year and the Investment and Trade Fair in September to complete two LED lighting demonstration projects, which were a complete success and expanded the influence of the Xiamen LED Lighting Project Demonstration Base. The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2010 Shanghai World Expo will further drive the growth of the LED light color market. The interior decoration lighting market is currently mainly focused on the application of indoor atmosphere lighting, making full use of the characteristics of LED lights that are easy to control intelligently and have rich colors, which can create an atmosphere in bars, shopping malls, etc. When the LED luminous efficiency reaches a certain level, the LED lights can achieve adjustable color temperature through intelligent control . Application 4: Special lighting lamps The special lighting lamp market takes advantage of the low power consumption, low driving voltage, cold light source , low UV content, and monochromaticity of LED lamps to achieve various special lighting functions. The main varieties include explosion-proof lamps (including mining lamps), military special lamps, flashlights, emergency lights, flashlights, cultural relics and artwork lighting lamps, leather and jewelry decorative lamps, special medical lamps, crop growth lamps, solar LED lamps, etc. Among them, the National Safety Production Management Office has issued a document requiring all coal mines to use LED mining lamps, and mobile phones and digital cameras are gradually expanding the use of LED flashlights, indicating that these two LED products will present huge market development opportunities.
Solar LED lights are a combination of energy-saving LEDs and solar cells . They are a perfect match and a good product that truly embodies the concept of circular economy advocated by the country. At present, the market focus is mainly on solar high-pole street lights. Many domestic companies have developed 50W~80W LED modules with 1WLED as a unit. Once they can be commercialized in the true sense, they will have great economic and social benefits.
Application 5: Traditional Market The traditional market mainly includes the display screen market and signal light market.
The display screen market in China was worth about 3 billion yuan in 2004. With the rise of smart traffic information display and more communities and enterprises choosing LED screens for publicity, the market is still growing at a rate of 20% per year.
Traffic light market: In 2004, the domestic road traffic light market alone had a market of 600 million yuan. The inherent directional characteristics of LED lights and the increasing efficiency of LED luminous efficiency will promote the development of LED signal lights in railways, airports, shipping, etc. How to improve market opportunities with the continuous improvement of LED performance and people's innovation ability and awareness, the application market of LED products will have more, bigger and better market opportunities.
The future of LED is bright. However, to ensure the healthy and stable development of my country's LED lighting industry, here are some suggestions:
First, the country should elevate the development of the LED lighting industry to a higher level, show the same spirit as when it manufactured the atomic bomb and spacecraft, concentrate the country's superior resources, unite the Chinese elites around the world, and embark on a development path with independent innovative technology to break through foreign technological barriers.
Second, the government should not only provide strong support to the R&D and manufacturing units of the LED industry chain, but also provide more preferential treatment to users of LED products to encourage more consumption.
Third, the LED Lighting Industry Association should formulate relevant standards in a timely manner for LED products with a certain market scale, guide companies to compete in technology, quality and cost-effectiveness, and avoid vicious competition based solely on price.
Fourth, enterprises should be customer-oriented, vigorously carry out applied research, and develop more original and personalized application products.
Fifth, enterprises should take the path of cooperative development, strengthen the upstream, midstream and downstream cooperative relationships, and the multi-disciplinary and multi-industry cooperative relationships, especially the close integration of the LED industry and the lighting industry, and the close integration of various marginal disciplines.
