Morse Microelectronics and Qunguang Electronics collaborate to launch the world's first Wi-Fi Certified HaLow IoT security camera
Long-distance, low-power wireless cameras will revolutionize the security of the Internet of Things, giving people peace of mind
January 30, 2023 - Sydney, Australia - Moores Microelectronics, a rapidly growing fabless semiconductor company focused on Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity, and Chicony Electronics, a leading electronics manufacturer, today announced a strategic Partnership to bring Wi-Fi Certified HaLow IP cameras to market. As a major breakthrough in IoT security, this collaboration will significantly improve the connection range and reliability of camera devices through cutting-edge wireless connection technology.
By incorporating Wi-Fi HaLow into the design, this best-in-class wireless camera has a connection range ten times farther than traditional Wi-Fi 6 cameras operating at 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Wi-Fi HaLow, based on the new IEEE 802.11ah standard, runs at frequencies below 1GHz, allowing it to better penetrate walls and other obstacles. Due to ultra-low power consumption, this new technology enables battery-powered IP cameras to operate for years. The Wi-Fi HaLow camera also features the most advanced WPA3 security protocol, providing peace of mind from every angle.
With an FCC (Federal Communications Commission) certified reference design and supported by Morse Microelectronics' MM6108 microchip , Qun Optoelectronics' Wi-Fi HaLow camera is the first in the world to be launched. This camera supports indoor and outdoor environments, allowing users to monitor an entire area without wiring or using a Wi-Fi extender.
Michael De Nil, co-founder and CEO of Morse Microelectronics, said: "We are very pleased to partner with Qnguang Electronics to bring the first Wi-Fi Certified HaLow IoT security camera to the market. With its broad range of products and global reach, Qunguang Electronics is the perfect partner for this landmark agreement and supports Morse Microelectronics in realizing the scale of Wi-Fi HaLow technology. Qunguang Electronics’ expertise and authority in the IoT security market have been demonstrated. Confirmed, we are pleased to receive the recognition of Wi-Fi HaLow from the Qunguang Electronics team to enable its products to have wider coverage and superior performance. Our cooperation with Qunguang Electronics builds on Wi-Fi HaLow’s global success. Building on the emergence and development trend, Morse Microelectronics has expanded its product portfolio and accelerated the use of Wi-Fi HaLow technology in a range of applications."
"For IoT environments, not all Wi-Fi is the same. No other protocol can meet the unique requirements of power-sensitive wireless security cameras as efficiently as Wi-Fi HaLow," said Mandy Tsai, general manager of Qunguang Electronics' VIP business unit. By partnering with Morse Microelectronics, we aim to scale the design and production of Wi-Fi HaLow connected cameras to meet the growing global demand for robust, long-range connectivity. The next generation of Wi-Fi HaLow video cameras will use -GHz signal connects further, has longer battery life, and is easier to deploy than existing cameras connected in the congested 2.4 GHz band.”
