element14 launches Spy Nerd design challenge
The competition encourages community members to design security protection or security monitoring related projects
Shanghai, China, September 30, 2021 – Farnell element14, a global distributor of electronic components products and solutions under Avnet, launched the Spy Nerd Design Challenge through its online interactive community. The challenge requires community members to develop security protection or security monitoring themed projects. The champion of the competition will win a security monitoring development kit and a shopping card worth US$200.
Protecting data security is critical to many industries. To this end, element14 launched this design challenge to encourage community members to improve the security protection functions of key devices to ensure the safety of the devices and give users more peace of mind. Community members can either create a new project around the concept of security, or design a project to enhance the security of an existing solution. All design projects involving security are eligible for the competition, such as:
-
Hardware integration with new or existing IoT edge devices
-
Security protection for consumer electronics
-
Innovations in secure and smart retail
-
Reliable and secure solutions for building or home automation
-
Factory safety solutions
-
Better energy and renewable energy solutions
Community members can also build other commercial security monitoring products or security products for other purposes. The challenge encourages makers to use a variety of tools to develop security monitoring equipment, including: Wi-Fi cameras, IP cameras, GSM bugs, eavesdropping devices, body-worn eavesdropping devices, GPS trackers, phone bugs and other types of surveillance bugs.
Design Challenge participants can watch the related video episodes of the element14 Presents program for more design inspiration, such as the DIY Portal 2 security camera and Raspberry S-pi camera. The overall best project of this challenge will receive a special prize of a security monitoring development kit, including an AI RF detector, a Rabbler noise generator, a night vision telescope and a $200 element14 shopping card; the three runners-up will receive a night vision telescope and a $100 shopping card.
Participants can register for the competition from now on, and the registration deadline is November 16, 2021.
