IBM has released an annual report predicting the development trend of technology in the next five years. According to British media reports on the 18th, the report said that by 2018, computers will obtain information by watching, tasting, touching, listening or smelling like humans.
Will open up a new way of human-computer interaction
IBM said this does not mean that computers will replace human thinking. IBM calls this technological development the "era of cognitive systems" and says it will open up new ways for people and machines to interact.
It is said that computers can already understand human language. In the future, they may be better than humans in understanding voice information. For example, they can analyze a baby's crying and understand what he wants, or predict natural disasters by listening to the sounds of the outside world.
IBM claims that in the future, mobile phones will be able to tell if you have a cold based on your breathing. Even better, a computer will smell you at home and then send the information to a doctor to diagnose and treat you remotely.
Personal computers can also analyze the chemical structure of food consumed through databases, providing healthier recipes while satisfying taste buds.
IBM predicts that in the next five years, mobile phone touch screens will mimic the feel of real objects. For example, if you want to order a shirt online, you can touch the texture of the shirt on your smartphone. In addition, IBM predicts that computers can view images and analyze their important information. For example, in natural disasters, computers can interpret the received images and tell rescuers to go to the precise location to take the correct rescue measures.
IBM's previous predictions have become reality
While these IBM predictions may sound a little far-fetched, many of them have come true since the company began making them in 2006.
For example, the real-time voice translation function predicted in 2006 and the prediction in 2007 that mobile phones can become our ticket booking agency, mobile banking, shopping assistant, etc. have now become part of our real life.
