Keysight Technologies Launches Wireless Test Platform to Enable 5G RedCap and Cellular IoT Industry Development
• An ecosystem of chipset, device and module manufacturers, providing a dedicated network emulation platform that supports all cellular IoT technologies, including the 5G RedCap new technology standard
• Supports the entire cellular IoT development workflow from early design and development to deployment
February 23, 2023, Beijing - Keysight Technologies has launched the new E7515R solution based on its 5G network emulation solution platform. This is a streamlined network emulator that can be used specifically to perform protocol, radio frequency (RF) and functional tests on all cellular Internet of Things (CIoT) technologies including RedCap technology. The launch of the E7515R solution further strengthens Keysight's 5G network emulation solution product lineup. As one of the industry's most powerful product portfolios, Keysight's 5G network emulation solution supports the entire mobile device verification workflow from early design to acceptance and deployment. Keysight provides advanced design and verification solutions designed to accelerate innovation and create a secure and connected world.
Keysight Technologies' E7515R solution is a streamlined network emulator designed to perform protocol, radio frequency (RF) and functional testing of all cellular IoT (CIoT) technologies, including RedCap technology.
The new 5G RedCap technology standard introduces support for lightweight 5G wireless devices. These devices are less complex and power-hungry, and are primarily intended for new cellular Internet of Things (CIoT) applications, such as industrial sensors and wearable devices such as smart watches. Similar to other devices using cellular networks, RedCap devices need to be tested in accredited laboratories and certified before they can be put on the market, a process that is both time-consuming and very expensive. Device and module manufacturers can troubleshoot and correct design issues by performing verification in the lab in advance, thereby shortening the certification process for cellular IoT devices and RedCap devices.
Keysight's E7515R solution can meet this need. This network simulation test platform designed and built for the 5G RedCap new technology standard supports all cellular IoT technologies. The E7515R supports the RedCap new technology standard by simplifying some functions and can perform comprehensive 5G device testing without adding additional functions.
The E7515R solution has the following advantages:
• Designed for RedCap and CIoT: The E7515R supports the new 5G R17 RedCap technology standard as well as traditional CIoT technologies such as narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT), LTE Category M, and LTE Cat-1bis.
• Integrated platform: The E7515R is a complete solution that supports radio frequency (RF), protocol, functional and performance testing in a single compact instrument.
• Built on Keysight's mature technology: Compared with the market-leading 5G network simulation solution platform, the E7515R uses the same hardware architecture and the same proven software solution, providing users with a working interface consistent with the original system, shortening the user's learning curve.
• End-to-end solution: The E7515R supports the entire development process of RedCap and CIoT devices, from early design and development, to device acceptance and certification testing, and to different stages of deployment.
The launch of the E7515R solution builds on Keysight’s continued success in supporting the deployment of RedCap devices, including establishing data dial-up services using the 5G RedCap new technology standard. By establishing data dial-up services, Keysight’s 5G network emulation solution completes the verification of RedCap connections on 5G chipsets.
"With the E7515R, Keysight provides chipset, module and device manufacturers with a proven test solution to enable the development of next-generation 5G NR RedCap devices," said Mosaab Abughalib, general manager of Keysight's Wireless Device Development Solutions group. "The E7515R is optimized for devices that do not require full 5G NR functionality, helping accelerate the device development process and maximize return on investment for our customers."
The E7515R is available now. Keysight will demonstrate the 5G RedCap network emulation capabilities of the E7515R solution at the 2023 Mobile World Congress (MWC 2023) in Hall 5, Booth 5E12.
