In this article, I mainly introduce the use of the wifi analyzer tool. The wifi analyzer is indeed a very good tool for detecting yourself or implementing some wifi coverage projects. First-time users may not understand the various interface function options of the wifi analyzer, so the following editor focuses on how to use the wifi analyzer to detect the surrounding wifi signals and signal quality.
Purpose of writing this tutorial:
1. Know where to download the wifi analyzer.
2. Know the various functions of wifi analysis so that you can use them correctly.
Step 1: Download the Wi-Fi Analyzer
It should be noted that the wifi analyzer currently only supports the Android version. As for whether the iOS version (Apple) will be available in the future, we have to wait and see. Generally, you can search for wifi analyzer in the Android application market. You can see it by searching "wifi analyzer" in the application market. However, there are many imitations. Please note that the full name is wifi analyzer. After the download is complete, it will be automatically installed by default.
Just download the first Wifi Analyzer
Kind tips:
Since the wifi analyzer is a free software, there are some advertisements embedded in it, so you need to be careful when using it.
Step 2: Use the Wi-Fi Analyzer Tutorial
1. Open the wifi analyzer software
After opening it, you will enter the default display interface, where there will be a parabola. Each parabola represents a wifi signal. The 1-14 below represent wireless channels. The more parabolas (wifi) there are on the same channel, the more congested the channel is, just like the more cars driving in the same direction on the same road, the more congested it is.
Distribution of 2.4G WiFi channels in the surrounding area
5G band wifi channel distribution
illustrate:
1) The more parabolas there are in the figure, the more WiFi networks there are around, and each parabola represents a WiFi network.
2) The X-axis (horizontal axis) 1-14 in the figure represents 14 channels. The more WiFi networks there are on each channel, the greater the conflict will be on the same channel.
3) The higher the parabola in the figure, the stronger the WiFi signal is.
2. Test the dBm value
Swipe left to display the interface of the wifi analyzer. The next function is to test the signal strength of different wifi networks. The larger the dBm value, the stronger the signal. For example, -40dBm and -70dBm, the signal strength of -40dBm is stronger than that of -70dBm.
The signal strength of 114 router network wifi is -58dBm
Extension description:
Generally speaking, to ensure smooth Internet access via WiFi, the signal strength is recommended not to be lower than -65dBm. If it is lower, the network speed may be slow.
3. Wi-Fi detailed information
Then switch the screen to the left and you can see the real-time information of the WiFi connection. The information here includes the name of the WiFi that has been connected, the MAC address corresponding to the WiFi name, the IP address obtained by the mobile phone (mobile terminal), the channel where the WiFi is located, and the signal strength of the WiFi.
Wi-Fi connection information
Extension description:
The name of the connected WiFi, the MAC address corresponding to the WiFi name, the IP address obtained by the mobile phone (mobile terminal), the channel where the WiFi is located, and the signal strength of the WiFi can be used to judge the quality of the WiFi. Based on this information, corresponding adjustments can be made to the WiFi.
4. Check the quality of surrounding channels
Then switch to the next screen from the previous step to view the number of wifi networks on a specific channel. Based on the number of wifi networks, you can adjust the wifi channel to a channel with fewer wifi networks.
Surrounding Wi-Fi channel quality
Through the above picture, you can select several channels in [Recommended Channel] to readjust the channel where your router wifi is located. If the mobile phone supports dual-band, you can see the quality of two different channels, 2.4G and 5G, under this item. The above picture shows the channel of 5Gwifi.
5. Check the volatility of WiFi
Then switch to the next screen from the previous step. You can filter and view the strength and volatility of the WiFi signal. The smaller the volatility, the more stable the signal is, which means the WiFi quality is better.
Each colored line represents a wifi
You can use the filtering function to filter out the wifi you want to view, and then observe its volatility
Click Filter to filter out most unobserved wifi signals
