The magnetic flap level gauge is a liquid level measuring instrument that works on the principle of magnetic coupling and buoyancy. It can be said that the key component for the magnetic flap level gauge to work stably is the magnetic float in the inner cavity of the measuring tube. As the name implies, the magnetic float has a certain magnetism and can always be in a floating state in the appropriate measuring liquid medium. The metal float (float) is the core component of the normal operation of the magnetic flap level gauge. Where is the float of the magnetic flap level gauge installed and how does it work? The working principle of the magnetic flap level gauge in the figure below may be very intuitive to understand.
Working principle diagram of magnetic float level gauge
1. According to the principle and the above figure, we know that the reason why it is called a magnetic float is that it is magnetic and the other is buoyancy. When the liquid level rises, the buoyancy affects the rise of the float and the scale is indicated by the magnetic action. Then the buoyancy of the level gauge float is related to the density of the liquid.
2. There are many kinds of materials for the level gauge float, such as PP material, UPVC material, 304 stainless steel, 316L stainless steel, 1Cr18Ni9Ti, 304 lined with tetrafluoroethylene, titanium alloy, etc.
3. We know that magnetic flap level gauges can measure liquid levels under high temperature and high pressure. In addition to the main steel pipe, panel and flange, the float must also be resistant to high temperature and high pressure, that is, the thickness and material of the level gauge float are different.
According to the above three points, the following information should be provided when ordering the level gauge float separately: medium density, degree of corrosiveness, medium temperature and pressure.

Like the level gauge, the magnetic float also needs to contact the liquid. Since there are many types of liquid media to be measured at the industrial production site, in order for the magnetic float to work properly, we need to use different materials according to different medium liquids.
For example, the materials include stainless steel 304, 316L, PP, titanium alloy, tetrafluoroethylene (polymer of tetrafluoroethylene. The English abbreviation is PTFE), plastic float, etc.
Magnetic float material type
Magnetic float level gauge, the picture shows titanium alloy and PTFE. Stainless steel 304 is a common stainless steel, which is also very common in magnetic flap level gauges. 316L stainless steel has better corrosion resistance, while PP and PTFE are generally used for medium- and strong-corrosion-resistant media. For specific situations, users can communicate with the manufacturer of the instrument to select the most suitable material type.
