STMicroelectronics Boosts Creativity of Sensor Application Developers with New All-in-One MEMS Studio Desktop Software Solution
Easy-to-use, efficient all-in-one sensor development tool that supports the development of application software for the next generation of high-tech MEMS sensor products
China, April 3, 2024 - STMicroelectronics' MEMS Studio is a new all-in-one MEMS sensor functional evaluation development tool that is closely related to the STM32 microcontroller ecosystem and supports Windows, MacOS and Linux operating systems.
From evaluation to configuration and programming, by integrating a unified sensor development process, MEMS Studio can accelerate sensor application software development and simplify adding rich contextual awareness functions to development projects. The enhanced functions help applications easily obtain sensor data and clearly display visual sensor data, making it easier for developers to explore sensor operating modes and optimize sensor performance and measurement accuracy. The software package also includes pre-built library testing tools and convenient mouse drag-and-drop algorithm creation tools, allowing developers to intuitively develop STM32 MCU firmware without code.
MEMS Studio supports a variety of ST MEMS sensor products, including motion sensors, environmental sensors, and infrared sensors. The software package provides tools that enable developers to explore and use the full capabilities of sensors, including finite state machines (FSMs) in inertial modules and embedded edge AI that efficiently executes local reasoning algorithms directly in the sensor, such as creating and managing decision trees in sensors equipped with ST machine learning cores (MLCs), monitoring interrupt status, and testing advanced features such as FIFOs, pedometers, and free-fall detection embedded in sensors.
MEMS Studio also provides users with a new experience in analyzing sensor data at runtime and offline. Users can visualize, mark and edit data to implement algorithms in a better way. There are also spectrum analysis and fast Fourier transform (FFT) functions to help users understand sensor signals for better target detection.
Users can choose from a wide range of compatible development boards, including STM32 Nucleo expansion boards and sensor adapters, as well as ST’s multi-sensor evaluation kit , which includes the SensorTile.box PRO, STWIN.box, and the STEVAL-MKI109V3 professional-grade MEMS adapter board with adjustable power settings and the STM32F401VE MCU.
As the creative use of MEMS sensors drives continued innovation in cutting-edge applications, MEMS Studio enables designers to add more advanced new features to the next generation of high-tech products. The release of this software will promote the development of smart home appliances, medical wearable devices, as well as digital health, smart buildings, smart factories, robotics, asset tracking and smart driving technologies.
MEMS Studio integrates existing sensor development tools such as AlgoBuilder, Unico-GUI, and Unicleo-GUI, and expands their functionality. MEMS Studio can now be downloaded for free from the ST official website.
