The rapid development of technologies such as 5G communications and intelligent driving is driving the continuous upgrading of the process of automobile intelligence. In this context, as the core component of intelligent driving perception, vehicle-mounted cameras not only have high requirements for safety performance, but also, as the level of intelligent driving becomes higher and higher, people have put forward more stringent requirements for parameters such as imaging effects, mechanical strength, heat resistance, and life cycle. The ADAS high-definition intelligent camera solution based on weltrend and onsemi products developed by Dalian Dayoushang is streamlined and low-energy, and can be integrated into automotive lens modules to help users capture clear images in all directions, thereby enhancing the safety of ADAS.
Figure 2-Application scenario of the ADAS HD smart camera solution based on Weltrend and Onsemi products
Founded in 1989, Weltrend Electronics (weltrend) is one of the well-known IC design companies in Taiwan . With years of technology accumulation, the company's product line has expanded from MCU, various digital and analog IPs to various algorithms including image processing/recognition, high-performance DC brushless motor control, secure hashing, physiological signal detection, digital power supply, etc., and has the ability to quickly develop SoC. The weltrend WT8911 used in this solution is a high-performance smart camera processor for ADAS applications. It integrates a 32-bit RISC CPU and DSP instruction set, operates at a frequency of up to 200MHz, and has a rich visual processing unit/interface, such as calibrator, lens correction, image mask, optical flow detection, etc.
In addition to the high-performance WT8911, this solution also uses the Onsemi AS0140AT 1.0 MP format digital image sensor and image sensor processor. The device includes full automatic function support (AWB and AE) and adaptive local tone mapping function (ALTM) to enhance HDR video effects. The AS0140AT implements high-sensitivity 3.0 µm pixels and DR-Pix technology, as well as advanced noise reduction, to achieve excellent low-light performance. It can operate in interlaced (NTSC or PAL) or progressive mode to capture images in linear or high dynamic range mode. The AS0140AT can operate in video (main) mode or in single frame trigger mode, providing flexibility for multi-camera systems.
