According to Dutch technology media Galaxy Club, Samsung is about to launch an extended reality (XR) head-mounted display device that can display virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) content at the same time. The headset can also see the outside world through the camera.
Samsung’s previously launched HMD Odyssey
Samsung stated at the Unpacked event of the Galaxy S23 series that it will work with Google and Qualcomm to promote a new mixed reality platform. IT House also previously reported that Samsung recently obtained a trademark patent for “Galaxy Glass”.
The latest reports indicate that this XR head-mounted display device is similar to Meta's Quest Pro and is a head-mounted display device that can operate independently. It runs on its own battery and does not need to be connected to a phone such as the Galaxy S23 to operate.
Samsung may launch the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldable phones simultaneously at the Unpacked event in August/September this year.
