CEVA Expands RivieraWaves UWB IP to Support CCC Digital Key 3.0 Standard for Keyless Vehicle Entry
The CEVA-RivieraWaves™ UWB Platform IP supporting IEEE 802.15.4z supports the Car Connectivity Consortium® Digital Key 3.0 standard using an optimized software MAC layer.
We have already started designing with Tier 1 automotive semiconductor manufacturers
CEVA, Inc. (NASDAQ: CEVA), a market leader in wireless connectivity, smart sensing technologies and integrated IP solutions, has announced the expansion of its RivieraWaves™ ultra-wideband (UWB) IP with the RW-UWB-CCC MAC package to support the Digital Key 3.0 specification from the Car Connectivity Consortium® (CCC). CEVA's Digital Key 3.0-compliant UWB IP has been licensed to a leading automotive semiconductor company's digital key product line, enabling silicon vendors and OEMs to quickly create and customize highly secure next-generation digital keys for keyless vehicle entry systems.
CCC Digital Key is a standardized technology that enables mobile devices to store, authenticate and share digital keys for vehicles anytime, anywhere in a highly secure, location-aware and always private manner . The latest CCC Digital Key version 3.0 is built around UWB combined with Bluetooth Low Energy® connectivity, and CEVA is an industry leader in IP licensing for both technology standards. Market research firm ABI Research predicts that approximately 25% of shipped cars will be equipped with UWB entry technology in 2025, and UWB is expected to become the main mobile car entry technology in the future.
Tal Shalev, Vice President and General Manager of the Wireless IoT Business Unit at CEVA, commented: "Our RivieraWaves UWB IP has been warmly welcomed by our licensees, especially when combined with the company's market-leading Bluetooth Low Energy IP. With the addition of Digital Key 3.0 support, automotive OEMs and silicon vendors can take full advantage of CEVA's UWB and Bluetooth Low Energy IP portfolio to rapidly develop secure vehicle entry solutions to meet the needs of a rapidly growing market."
CEVA's new RW-UWB-CCC MAC software extends the RivieraWaves UWB IP to meet the CCC Digital Key 3.0 specification requirements. This combined IP solution features a coherent demodulation architecture and advanced ranging algorithms that provide best-in-class ranging accuracy in complex non-line-of-sight (NLOS) real-life scenarios. In addition to standard-compliant packet formats, the CEVA solution also supports customizable packet formats to achieve extremely low power proprietary modes, further extending the battery life of car keys. Security has always been the industry's top priority, and CEVA's solutions can flexibly defend against various attacks that undermine distance measurement verification (such as Cicada variants, early detection late submission attacks, etc.) as well as potential future attacks. CEVA's RivieraWaves UWB and CCC MAC software are designed to meet the stringent requirements of the automotive market, including MISRA (Motor Industry Software Reliability Association) and AUTOSAR specifications.
