STMicroelectronics Launches Ready-to-Use Secure Car Entry System-on-Chip Solution Compliant with CCC Digital Key Standard 3.0
Integrates a secure element based on the industry-standard certified ST33K-A security chip and a Java® Card platform, as well as the G+D Digital Key® applet, to provide a system-on-chip solution for developing secure car entry systems
Improve vehicle convenience and safety, complying with the latest digital car key standards of the Car Connect Consortium (CCC)
June 22, 2022, Beijing - STMicroelectronics (ST), a world-leading semiconductor company serving multiple electronic applications, has launched a new platform that can accelerate the development of digital car keys. With digital keys, consumers can enter their cars through mobile devices without keys .
In addition to enhanced security, digital car keys can also provide car owners with greater convenience, including customizable car access permissions while protecting the vehicle. Business activities such as car sharing, fleet management and vehicle rental will benefit from this, such as simpler car key issuance, vehicle access control, and vehicle access for valet drivers and automotive repair technicians.
This overall solution is based on STMicroelectronics' latest automotive-grade security unit hardware and was jointly developed by STMicroelectronics and Giesecke+Devrient (G+D). It supports the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC)'s latest digital car key standard version 3.0, ensuring that the application has high security protection functions.
“Major car brands can now quickly develop standardized secure car-entry solutions that deliver more value to car owners and users,” said Laurent Degauque, Marketing Director for Secure Microcontrollers at STMicroelectronics. “Our solutions, based on automotive-grade embedded secure elements, ensure advanced protection for applications and usher in the widespread adoption of digital car keys in connected cars.”
Mario Feuerer, Vice President of Global Product Management Connectivity at G+D, said: “As a long-term partner of the automotive industry in security and connectivity technologies, G+D brings extensive experience in the field of vehicle access control. Our G+D Digital Key® application software is based on ST’s new chip platform, which is highly resistant to cyberattacks, and our smart and convenient customer access solutions based on NFC, UWB and BLE.”
ST's STSAFE-VJ100-CCC automotive SoC solution is based on the CC EAL6+ certified Level 2 automotive ST33K-A security chip with integrated Java® Card application software. The SoC is responsible for storing certificates and other sensitive information and performing cryptographic operations required for CCC Digital Car Key Version 3.0 use cases , such as owner pairing, key sharing, and key deactivation/deletion. This provides a solid foundation for customers to build digital car key solutions.
