Mouser Electronics, Inc., the premier distributor with the latest semiconductors and electronic components, is now stocking the LMK05318 network synchronization clock from Texas Instruments (TI). This ultra-low jitter single-channel clock with a bulk acoustic wave (BAW) resonator for 400 Gbps links helps systems transmit more data at higher speeds while providing more system jitter margin than competing products.

TI's LMK05318 network synchronization clock, available from Mouser Electronics, offers superior performance, including jitter cleaning, clock generation, and advanced clock monitoring. The device features ultra-low jitter, high power supply noise rejection (PSNR), and excellent hitless switching performance, enabling ultra-low bit error rates for 56 Gbps (and emerging 112 Gbps) pulse amplitude modulation 4 (PAM4) links, significantly improving network performance.

The LMK05318 uses TI's proprietary BAW voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) technology to generate an output clock with 50-fs RMS jitter, independent of the jitter and frequency of the crystal oscillator and reference input. The device meets the stringent timing requirements of communications infrastructure and industrial applications, helping system designers simplify the design process to accelerate time to market while achieving stable, simplified, high-performance data transmission.

Mouser also offers the TI LMK05318EVM evaluation module for development. The LMK05318EVM includes SMA connectors to connect the device to 50-ohm test equipment for clock input, oscillator input, and clock output. An onboard crystal oscillator allows the LMK05318 to be evaluated in free-running, phase-locked, or holdover modes. This EVM can be configured using a PC with the TI TICS Pro software graphical user interface via the onboard USB microcontroller interface.
