Integrated 6-axis IMU and GPS/Beidou satellite positioning function combined sensor chip—QMI7602
At the 2019 Songshan Lake China IC Innovation Summit, Fan Xiang, senior director of Shanghai Silicon Rui Technology Co., Ltd. (QST), introduced the company's latest integrated 6-axis IMU and GPS/Beidou satellite positioning function combined sensor chip - QMI7602.
We know that traditional GPS has limitations, such as the GPS blind spots between high-rise buildings in cities, which weakens the signal and causes positioning to be more than 100 meters away. According to Fan Xiang, by integrating RF+MCU, accurate positioning navigation and real-time location analysis can be provided for vehicles. This is something that GPS alone cannot do. Combined with Si Rui's chips and fusion algorithms, the positioning accuracy can be controlled within 10%. IMU is an effective supplement to GPS positioning, which can improve GPS accuracy and achieve relative positioning in its blind spots through inertial sensing, which will realize many different application scenarios.
In addition, due to the size and weight limitations of wearable products such as smart watches, and as they develop, they will integrate more and more sensors and functions; in addition, the battery capacity and charging interval will directly affect the user experience, which is also a competitive factor in measuring wearable products.
Therefore, the advantages of using this chip in wearable devices are: it can solve the charging problem and improve product competitiveness; and the chip optimizes the comprehensive power consumption index, and the single-chip approach can effectively reduce the PCB area, which greatly increases the battery capacity. The traditional structure of IMU, GPS, and Flash are all single, so the package is basically around 3X3mm2, while Silicon Rui's technology allows the chip to be integrated within 4X4mm2, and 62 pins, LGA package.
It is reported that the first phase of this product will focus on the wearable product market, smart watches, and driving recorders.
With the expansion of operations last year, Silicon Rui Technology has expanded its product layout to include five product lines: 6-axis IMU, smart sensors, optical sensors, magnetic switches, magnetic encoders, and sensor modules. It is also gradually expanding into smart phones, wearable smart products, the Internet of Things, industry, ADAS and other fields.
