Another 24 Chinese companies are sanctioned by the United States!
On Wednesday local time, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced that it would add 24 Chinese companies to the "Entity List" and impose sanctions on them. According to regulations, U.S. companies must apply for and obtain a license before they can export products or technologies to these companies included in the "Entity List."
Subsequently, the US State Department also announced that it would cancel the US visas of some Chinese company executives on the grounds that they were involved in projects in the South China Sea and that their immediate family members might also be subject to these visa restrictions.
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross declared in a statement that the reason for this round of sanctions is that China has ignored protests from the United States and its neighboring countries and insisted on militarizing islands and reefs in the South China Sea. Therefore, those entities that have participated in China's construction of islands and reefs in the South China Sea and played an important role must be held accountable for this.
It is reported that the Chinese companies sanctioned this time are companies that carry out construction or provide engineering equipment and communication equipment for China's South China Sea construction, covering almost the entire industrial chain. It is worth mentioning that "International Electronic Business" received a tip that as one of the companies named for sanctions, a wireless equipment company located in Guangzhou issued an internal emergency notice late at night on the 26th Beijing time. The notice stated: Regarding the news about the 24 companies announced by the United States that participated in the construction of islands and reefs in the Nansha Islands, please do not forward it or make any external response!
However, regarding the South China Sea issue, the spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly stated that the South China Sea Islands are China's inherent territory. It is completely normal for China to carry out infrastructure construction and deploy necessary national defense facilities on its own territory. This is a normal right of a sovereign state recognized by international law. China is committed to jointly maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea with ASEAN countries. Recently, the situation in the South China Sea is stabilizing and moving in a positive direction. It is hoped that relevant countries can respect the efforts of regional countries to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea and do more things that are conducive to promoting peace and stability in the South China Sea.
