Domestic CPU overtaking: 2nm process has a chance

Recently, the Chinese Academy of Sciences announced that Chinese scientists have developed a new type of vertical nano-ring gate transistor, which is considered to be the main technical candidate for 2nm and below processes. This means that after this technology matures, domestically produced 2nm chips are expected to successfully "break the ice", which is of great significance.

The most advanced chip manufacturing technology at present is the 7nm+Euv process. The most famous one is Huawei's Kirin 990 5G chip, which has more than 10 billion transistors built in. Kirin 990 integrates 5G Modem into SoC for the first time, and is also the world's first integrated 5G Soc. It has indeed achieved a huge breakthrough in technology and is also a milestone for domestic chips.

Following Huawei, the Chinese Academy of Sciences has developed a new type of transistor required for 2nm and below processes - the stacked vertical nano-ring gate transistor. It is reported that as early as 2016, the government began to conduct relevant research on this type of technology. After going through many difficulties, the Chinese Academy of Sciences won the first place in the world and developed the world's first stacked vertical nano-ring gate transistor with a self-aligned gate.

At the same time, this patent has also been authorized for a number of invention patents. The research results of the Chinese Academy of Sciences are of great significance. This new type of vertical nano-ring gate transistor is regarded as the main technical candidate for 2nm and below processes, which may have a huge boost to domestic chip manufacturing. Now, under the pressure of American companies, it has become the mainstream consciousness for domestic companies to promote independent control, and the market space will be further opened up. I believe that within 5 years, a comprehensive breakthrough will be achieved in technology. Cutting off the technology supply to Huawei will be a milestone turning point in China's overall research and development of chips. China will no longer be overly dependent on related chips and technologies provided by the United States.
