ASML's latest financial report: profits plummeted by 40%!

According to news on April 17, today lithography machine manufacturer ASML (ASML) announced its first quarter results for 2024. The financial report showed that the company’s total net sales in the quarter were 5.3 billion euros, a decrease of 27% from the previous quarter; the gross profit margin was 51.0 %, which was 51.4% in the previous quarter; net profit was 1.2 billion euros (approximately 9.24 billion yuan), a 40% decrease from the previous quarter, which was lower than analysts’ expectations .

ASML CEO Peter Wennink said in a statement, "We maintain our outlook for the full year of 2024 and expect results in the second half of the year to be stronger than the first half, as the chip industry continues to recover from the downturn. Wennink described 2024 as a "transition year."

ASML expects total net sales in the second quarter of 2024 to be between 5.7 billion euros and 6.2 billion euros, with gross profit margins between 50% and 51% . The company expects total net sales for full-year 2024 to be roughly in line with 2023's €27.6 billion, and expects strong growth in 2025.
