According to reports, at 10 o'clock yesterday evening, the Hsinchu County Fire Department received a report from the public that a fire broke out in the Hsinchu Science Park. The fire started in the building where Wistron and Yangming Optics are located.
It is reported that after people witnessed flames escaping from the building, in addition to the sounds of suspected explosions from time to time, there were also billowing smoke, and the scope of the smoke was getting wider and wider, and there was even a sting. The nasal smell wafts out. In addition, the Hsinchu area is affected by its hilly terrain and is subject to strong winds all the time. Therefore, the Eastern District and Zhu County to Hukou Industrial Zone are all listed as the affected area.
According to the on-site disaster relief personnel, the fire was suspected to have started at the outdoor unit of the air conditioner on the top floor. When the on-duty personnel in the factory noticed flames coming out, they immediately called the police and evacuated the building at that time, including two large rooms. The factory was responsible for 433 employees working the night shift (suspected to be 365 people working the night shift at Wistron and 68 people working the night shift at Yang Mingguang). Therefore, although the fire at the scene was fierce, fortunately there were no casualties. Although the fire was extinguished within 4 hours, the on-site environment was seriously damaged, and Wisdom Innovations and Yang Mingguang announced that they would suspend operations for one day on the 26th.
Regarding the fire, Yang Mingguang said that when the fire broke out, the company immediately evacuated its employees in accordance with the disaster prevention and safety guidelines, so there were no casualties. However, the recovery schedule of the company's damaged factory buildings and production equipment has yet to be confirmed with the relevant manufacturers. Work will be suspended from the occurrence of the accident until recovery.
Wistron announced on March 26 that a fire broke out at the company's Xin'an factory in Hsinchu Science and Technology Park on the evening of March 25. The fire has been completely extinguished and there are no casualties. It was initially determined that the outdoor air-conditioning box was burned, and the cause of the fire has yet to be identified by the firefighting unit. Only a small portion of production is affected. Wistron stated that the company has purchased fire insurance, and the preliminary assessment has not yet had a significant impact on the overall operations and finances. The actual losses have yet to be determined, and relevant claims procedures will be carried out pending the investigation results; in the future, the factory safety maintenance mechanism will be strengthened.
