Power devices are hot! This semiconductor company's delivery time is extended to 69 weeks
In the second half of 2020, the global semiconductor price increase and shortage wave kicked off, and chip manufacturers officially ushered in a high-prosperity cycle. Nearly a year has passed, and the semiconductor shortage frenzy that spread from upstream wafer fabs has shown no signs of abating. In June of this year, ST, ON Semiconductor, Nexperia and other global leading power semiconductor manufacturers have issued price increase notices, setting off a new round of price increases. Along with the new round of price increases, the downstream mobile phone, notebook, and IoT manufacturers in the industry chain still have strong chip demand, and the upstream manufacturers are increasingly tight supply.
It is reported that the longest product delivery time of well-known manufacturers in the industry such as Nexperia, Broadcom, ON Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics, Qualcomm, etc. has exceeded 52 weeks, and the latest news shows that the delivery time of some Nexperia products has even been further extended to 69 weeks. According to real-time data from mainstream IC distribution platforms such as "Mouser Electronics", among Nexperia's MOSFET devices, 144 products including 30V N-channel MOSFET, GaN FET, power MOSFET, etc. are out of stock, and the delivery cycle of out-of-stock products has been as long as 69 weeks.
Corresponding to the extension of delivery time is the sharp increase in price: According to the historical price data of Mouser Electronics platform, the purchase price of out-of-stock products of Anshi Semiconductor has generally increased. The PSMN1R4-40YLDX device with the largest increase has increased from 6.2715 yuan/piece to 8.6445 yuan/piece, an increase of +37.84%; the PSMNR51-25YLHX device has increased from 10.4186 yuan/piece to 14.2832 yuan/piece, an increase of +37.09%; the PSMN1R0-40YSHX device has increased from 11.4243 yuan/piece to 15.2776 yuan/piece, an increase of +33.73%; the purchase price increase of other devices also ranges from 6% to 21%.
Nexperia's delivery time for many MOSFET products is now up to 69 weeks
At present, the high prosperity of the power semiconductor market is expected to continue. Relevant industry insiders said that the biggest gap in the power semiconductor market is products with certain technical barriers. Therefore, when the production capacity of the world's leading manufacturers is in short supply, few other companies have the corresponding technical capabilities to fill the gap in market demand. Under this circumstance, power device manufacturers, which are boosted by both demand and price, have also seen a surge in performance. The revenue and performance of MOSFET manufacturers such as Dazhong, Jie Li, and Fu Ding have all seen varying degrees of increase. According to public data such as annual reports and first quarter reports, Anshi Semiconductor ushered in a historical high in performance in the fourth quarter of last year.
According to previous industry practices, whenever the original factory's production capacity is insufficient and the delivery time is extended, a new round of price increases will follow. As China's largest power semiconductor company, will Nexperia take the lead in launching a new round of price increases after further extending the delivery time of some products? Although major mainstream power semiconductor manufacturers have not yet announced price increases, given the current market supply and demand mismatch, power semiconductor devices obviously still have a lot of room for price increases.
