Conference Introduction
5G NR (New Radio) is the first to use millimeter wave frequencies that provide large bandwidth. This frequency range (FR2), from 24.25 GHz to 52.6 GHz, enables reliable, high data rate transmission, which is especially important for real-time, low-latency applications. The upgrade of bandwidth and configuration has brought new challenges to mobile device testing and requires new test methods. Highly integrated front-ends and array antennas require advanced OTA test methods and new RF test indicators to evaluate current and future mobile communication systems. This includes standardized evaluation and verification methods under repeatable and realistic conditions to ensure that mobile devices comply with 3GPP standards.
This webinar will discuss the test challenges associated with 5G mmWave device design.
It also highlights how the Rohde & Schwarz CMX500 test platform combined with a compact OTA chamber can be used to ensure 5G NR devices are compliant with 3GPP standards.

Taro Eichler is Market and Technology Manager for Wireless Communications at Rohde & Schwarz in Munich. Prior to joining Rohde & Schwarz, Taro worked at Intel as an expert in optoelectronic communication solutions and at NTT Basic Research Laboratories. He also participated in research projects in the field of quantum optics at the University of Tokyo. He holds a diploma in physics from the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics at the Technical University of Munich and a PhD in physics from the University of Bonn, Germany.

Mobile Communications Test Product Manager
Manuel Galozy is the Product Manager for mobile communication testers such as CMX500 and CMW500 at the Rohde & Schwarz headquarters in Munich, Germany. He is an expert in cellular technology with a focus on RF and protocol stack testing for 5G and LTE. Before joining the product management team in 2011, he supported key customers worldwide as an application engineer for the CMW500 and CRTU-W protocol testers. Before joining Rohde & Schwarz in 2007, Manuel gained extensive experience in telecommunication technology as a GSM and GSM-R expert at infrastructure provider Nortel Networks in Friedrichshafen, Germany. He holds a degree in Computer Science from the Cooperative State University of Baden-Württemberg in Ravensburg, Germany.
