A relatively rare night vision assistance system disassembled to see which automotive chips are used

With the continuous advancement of science and technology, various advanced auxiliary monitoring and intelligent systems have become popular in automobiles, greatly improving the safety and comfort of automobile driving. The night vision assistance system that uses infrared imaging technology to assist drivers in seeing the road, pedestrians and obstacles in the dark, reducing accidents and enhancing active safety is a driving assistance system that helps drivers improve nighttime driving safety.


This time we are disassembling the computer module of the second-generation night vision system produced by AutoLiv (AutoLiv, a well-known automotive safety system solution provider) for Audi, which is used in conjunction with their night vision (thermal imaging) camera. It can detect pedestrians in front of the car, display the thermal imaging image on the display screen on the dashboard, and highlight the pedestrians. Its outer shell is made of aluminum alloy, which can shield radiation very well, but there is no waterproof design inside. Waterproofing requires a plastic box on the outside.


After removing the shell, you can directly remove the mainboard. There is a TI DSP chip, TMS320DM642, on each side of the mainboard. In the middle is a XILINX XA3S500E automotive-grade FPGA.

On the back is a Freescale MC9S12XDT512, a 16-bit microcontroller.


DSP chips are relatively large


There are 2 DDR RAMs and a FLASH chip around the FPGA.


Next to the other DSP is an ADI ADV7179, an RGB to CVBS chip, which converts data into differential signal output via a TI LMH6643 and a dual FDW2501N dual-channel N-channel MOSFET in the upper right corner.


DS90C124 is an LVDS deserializer, which is used to convert the LVDS signal sent by the night vision camera through 2 lines into a TTL signal. After the data is collected by FPGA, it is sent to DSP for further image processing.


LM2904 is a 1A, 26V, high PSRR, low dropout regulator


The TPS5430 in the upper right corner is a 5.5V to 36V input 3A 500kHz buck converter, and the TPS54310PWPR in the lower left corner is a 3V to 6V input 3A synchronous buck converter



There are two 625033 printed on the board. I didn't find the specific model. It is certain that they are CAN transceivers. One of them communicates with the night vision camera and the other communicates with other buses of the car.


Below is an Infineon ITS428L2, a high-side power switch with integrated vertical power FETs that provides embedded protection and diagnostics.


IDT74FCT3807 is a clock driver with two crystal oscillators on the left.


The camera is connected using the HSD 4P interface


There are 2 Japanese ELNA electrolytic capacitors inside

Attached is a piece of data showing the communication between a night vision computer and a night vision camera. Because the ID saved in the night vision computer does not match that of the camera, they enter a repetitive question-and-answer mode after a difficult conversation (with comments).
