【Solution News】Integrated solution, WPG launches TYPE-C PD mobile power solution based on products from international manufacturers

On June 20, 2017, WPG Holdings, a leading electronic component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market , announced that its subsidiary Quan Ding has launched a TYPE-C PD mobile power solution that integrates products from many international manufacturers such as Richtek, Intersil, STMicroelectronics, etc. The solution includes a bidirectional PD power protocol (5/9/15/20V), a Micro B input interface (5V) and two TYPE-A QC output interfaces (5/9/12V), covering all the interfaces currently required for mobile power.

The RT1711P from Richtek used in this system is a TYPE-C PD control IC, which has a standard TCPC control interface and includes protection functions such as VBUS OVP and OCP. In the current solution, it is mainly used for communication at the physical layer of the DRP PD bidirectional power protocol of the TYPE-C interface of the mobile power supply. The power supply direction can be changed through an external button.

The ISL9238 is a bidirectional buck-boost control IC from Intersil, which is mainly used for TYPE-C bidirectional power supply and battery charging in the current solution. The ISL95338 plays the role of buck-boost of TYPE-A power supply in the current solution.

ST32F030K6 is a 32-bit MCU based on Cortex-M0 launched by STMicroelectronics (ST), which is used as the behavioral mode control unit of the mobile power supply.
