CGA Series 100V Multilayer Ceramic Chip Capacitors for Automotive

New 100V automotive products in 2012 specifications (2.2μF) and 3216 specifications (4.7μF) (realizing large capacitance);

Achieve a more space-saving design while reducing component count;

Compliant with AEC-Q200 standards.

TDK has expanded its CGA series 100V multilayer ceramic chip capacitor (MLCC) lineup for automotive with 2.2μF capacitance in 2012 size (2.0 x 1.25 x 1.25 mm - length x width x thickness) and 3216 size (3.2 x 1.6 x 1.6 mm - length x width x thickness) with a capacitance of 4.7μF, the new product has the highest capacitance in the industry*. Mass production of this series of products will begin in March 2024. (*As of March 2024, source: TDK)

Due to various factors including vehicle fuel efficiency (power efficiency), more and more car manufacturers are beginning to adopt 48V electrical systems. This also increases the demand for miniaturized, high-capacitance 100V products that will help smooth and decouple power lines.

Thanks to the optimized product design, the CGA series 100V products are more compact in size and have higher capacitance. TDK will continue to expand its product lineup to meet customer needs.

main application

  • Smoothing and decoupling of power lines for various automotive 48V products.

Advantages and features

  • The capacitors in 2012 and 3216 specifications are 2.2 μF and 4.7 μF respectively, enabling a more space-saving design and reducing the number of components;

  • High reliability, compliant with AEC-Q200 standard;

key data

the term

1. Smoothing: Suppress and smooth the fluctuations in the pulsating voltage in the rectified current by charging and discharging high-capacitance capacitors;

2. Decoupling: Suppresses voltage fluctuations in the IC power line by inserting a capacitor between the power line and ground and by temporarily supplying current when the power load changes suddenly;

3. AEC-Q200: Automotive Electronics Council automotive passive component standard.
