All-rounder in power solutions - Spartan-7 power solutions
The Spartan®-7 power solution is a customized power solution based on the Xilinx Spartan®-7 FPGA series devices.
Renesas has designed a pre-programmed PMIC specifically for this application, and selects different Xilinx Spartan®-7 devices according to different power application requirements, providing a more flexible power solution for devices including XC7S6, XC7S15, XC7S25, etc.
Spartan®-7 devices are the latest additions to Xilinx's cost-optimized portfolio, offering the industry's highest performance/watt in a small package. The devices feature the MicroBlaze™ embedded soft core running 200 DMIPs and support 800Mb/s DDR3 based on 28 nm technology. In addition, Spartan®-7 devices offer integrated ADCs and dedicated security features for all commercial devices. The devices are ideal for industrial, consumer, and automotive applications, including any-to-any connectivity, sensor fusion, and embedded vision.
The Spartan®-7 power solution uses the Renesas ISL91211B quad-output power management IC, which is suitable for applications that require high output power and small size solutions. The ISL91211B has four buck controllers optimized with a high-efficiency synchronous buck converter, capable of multi-phase and single-phase operation, and can provide up to 5A of current per phase output current. The solution also uses the ISL80030 2x2 DFN packaged 3A synchronous buck converter, which uses a peak current mode control architecture and operates at a very low duty cycle.
