When working on algorithms, you always have to read papers to understand the major research in the industry.
However, finding papers requires some skills. Whether you search for them piecemeal by yourself or look through other people's references, it is too troublesome. Even if you cast a wide net, you still cannot aim accurately. It would be great if there was a must-read list of classic papers.
The list comes as soon as it is said. Recently, Benedek Rozemberczki, a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, shared his list of decision/classification/regression tree papers on GitHub, covering:
Machine learning, computer vision, NLP and other fields;
Top conferences such as NeurlIPS, CVPR, KDD, and AAAI;
Research by renowned experts in the industry such as Zhou Zhihua and Michael I. Jordan;
In addition, there are papers and implementations related to graph embedding and community detection, starting with Decision Tree Induction Systems: A Bayesian Analysis published by Wray L. Buntine in UAI in 1987, the total number has reached 163.
All papers are classified by year, and papers published in different top conferences are put together.
For example, in 2018, 12 papers were included, of which 5 were from AAAI, 2 were from NIPS, and the rest were published in CVPR, ICDM, ICML, IJCAI, and KDD.
Of course, there were not so many papers in the early years of decision tree research. For example, in 1994, there were only 4 papers in total, including two old papers with over 100 citations.
Each paper is accompanied by an address. If the researcher who published the paper has open-sourced the code, the code address will also be attached, which will make it easier to read and reproduce.
Just study it accordingly, and you will be right.
