The glory of innovation that goes “beyond all possibilities”!
The Global Double Summit hosted by ASPENCORE, the largest media group in the field of global electronic technology, was grandly opened yesterday in Shenzhen, China's innovation capital. At the Global Electronics Achievement Awards ceremony, ADI won the "Best Electronics Company of the Year Award", "Asia Pacific Manager of the Year Award (Jerry Fan, President of ADI China)", "Best Product of the Year in Power Management/Voltage Converter Category (LTM4661)" and "Best Product of the Year in Amplifier/Data Converter Category (AD9208/AD9172)".
Warm congratulations to ADI for its glorious moment of “Beyond All Possible”!

The finale of the Global CEO Summit was a roundtable discussion on "China, the World and Future Disruptive Technologies". Jerry Fan and executives from many leading technology companies around the world engaged in a dialogue with the host, Junko Yoshida, global co-editor-in-chief of ASPENCORE, on a number of hot topics.
Junko Yoshida: How do you view the application and development of AI in China?
Jerry Fan: The three industrial revolutions of mankind were all driven by three driving forces: energy, transportation and communication. The invention and application of steam engines, telephones and trains drove the success of the first industrial revolution; TV broadcasting, electricity and automobiles drove the second industrial revolution. Now we are in the third wave of industrial change, and we can see various new applications brought to life by intelligent driving, new energy, renewable energy and 5G-based mobile technology.
Judging from the three driving forces that promote industrial transformation, China will have a lot of room for development and is capable of surpassing other regions in the world, because China's intelligent development plays a very important role in the global intelligent development.
Junko Yoshida: What technologies does the Chinese market have the opportunity to lead? What are the areas where AI applications are most likely to develop in China?
Jerry Fan: A single technological breakthrough cannot detonate the entire industry. In the new industrial transformation, we need "combination innovation", that is, only when a wave of innovative technologies are combined to form an application that is sufficient to affect the entire society, the industry will be able to truly change and have an impact on mankind and the entire world.
The most likely area for AI applications to develop in China is healthcare. On the one hand, there is a rise in the healthcare needs of the middle class, and on the other hand, telemedicine. Because the distribution of medical resources in China is very unbalanced, telemedicine is needed to transport medical resources concentrated in first-tier cities to remote areas. In addition, China's huge population base and aging society have an urgent need for healthcare resources. Therefore, medical innovation is a very good opportunity.
Junko Yoshida: How do you view the impact of the Sino-US trade war on China?
Jerry Fan: First, the entire industry is a global industry, and industrial innovation is borderless. What we need to do is to collaborate and cooperate to achieve it. Take ADI as an example. We have multiple R&D centers around the world, including China. They collaborate to achieve ADI's industry-leading technological innovation. Second, China has its own unique opportunities. "China speed" and "China scale" are market opportunities and status that the world cannot ignore.

Technological innovation requires the support of semiconductor technology. At the Global Electronics Achievement Show held at the same time, the latest and most cutting-edge technologies were presented to engineers and decision makers. The demos and solutions exhibited at the ADI booth attracted the attention of many participants.
The 24GHz radar full-link solution is based on ADI's 24GHz radar full signal chain, such as radar antenna, signal transmission and reception, filtering, analog-to-digital conversion, etc., as well as the ADI DSP processor platform with competitive costs. It performs comprehensive system optimization from the software and hardware levels to achieve a low-cost solution.
Based on system-level optimized embedded radar signal processing and detection algorithms, coupled with AI-based multi-sensor fusion, multi-target detection and tracking open architecture, it can realize application scenarios of detecting up to 64 targets at the same time, such as traffic condition monitoring and real-time tracking of target vehicle positions.
ADI speech recognition solution provides ADI high-performance DSP processing platform for running complete far-field algorithms and CNN deep learning-based wake-up algorithms, and supports multiple common wake-up words.
According to our on-site engineers, this voice solution consumes about 100mW of power in working mode and only 50mW in standby mode, which is much lower than similar solutions based on microcontrollers. Therefore, it is particularly suitable for portable applications, such as portable Bluetooth speakers, and provides longer battery life with the same battery capacity.
Main technologies for vital sign signal acquisition and processing
Medical health has always been an area of long-term concern for ADI. At this summit, the demo of ADI's vital sign signal acquisition and processing technology also attracted a lot of attention. The PPG heart rate detection solution using photoelectric sensing technology provides a complete system-level solution with low power consumption, high integration/small size and high performance, and has been widely used in wearable health monitoring equipment.
At the same time, combined with ADI's leading technologies for collecting and processing vital signs signals such as temperature, motion, impedance, and physiological potential, it is possible to design solutions with diagnostic-level performance.
By using the ADDI903X with infrared light sensing components, ADI ToF can output VGA resolution infrared images while providing pixel-corresponding depth data. In applications, depth information can be introduced while combining existing camera detection methods to improve system robustness. In industrial automation, the ToF solution can be applied in safety protection to use depth and infrared information to identify whether a worker is approaching a dangerous distance, and related equipment can respond immediately.
Key component: ToF signal processor ADDI903X
-
ADI's ToF solution uses ADDI903X with infrared light sensing components
-
ADDI903X is a 12-bit, 45MSPS AFE
-
Resolution up to 640x480 pixels
-
Provides high-precision pulse time controller
-
The pulse time controller adopts a closed-loop design, which makes the pulse width controlled by the infrared laser more accurate, thus obtaining more accurate depth data.
By utilizing ToF depth data, ADDI903X can effectively increase image recognition, achieve object judgment accuracy, and provide machine vision that was not available in previous machines.
In addition to the demo, we can also see classic examples of successful applications of ADI products. For example, it helped National Instruments build the second-generation vector signal transceiver and jointly led the 5G standard of tomorrow; iCoupler® digital isolation technology enables Phoenix Contact 's I/O system to have excellent performance, reliability and security, paving the way for Industry 4.0; converters, temperature sensors, operational amplifiers and other products help LIGO promote scientific progress...
