The Huawei P series mobile phones, which were originally supposed to be released at the end of March every year, were four months late this year.
Last night, Yu Chengdong officially released the P50 and P50 Pro.
Unexpectedly, this time the P50 is not like the Mate 40 series released last year. The entire series is not equipped with 5G, only a 4G version.
In fact, we can already see some clues from the recent shipments of Mate 40. The Mate 40 5G version is out of stock online, and only the 4G version is easier to buy.
At the press conference, Yu Chengdong said that under the four rounds of sanctions imposed by the United States, Huawei's 5G mobile phones were restricted, resulting in 5G chips being used only as 4G. Although the Kirin 9000 and Snapdragon 888 equipped in the P50 series both support 5G.
However, he said that through 4G, Wi-Fi 6 and AI signal prediction, the P50 can also bring a good communication experience in most user scenarios.
Equipped with Snapdragon 888 and pre-installed Hongmeng
Due to the shortage of Kirin 9000 chips, Huawei has finally started to partially use Snapdragon chips on its flagships.
This time, all Huawei P50s are equipped with Snapdragon 888, with a starting price of 4,488 yuan, a 6.5-inch 90Hz OLED straight screen and a resolution of 2700×1224.
The P50 Pro is divided into Snapdragon 888 and Kirin 9000. The version equipped with Snapdragon has a minimum of 8+128GB and a starting price of 5988; the version equipped with Kirin has a minimum of 8+512GB and a price of 7488.
There is also a 12+512GB collector's edition priced at 8,488 yuan.
The P50 Pro uses a 6.6-inch 120Hz OLED micro-curved screen with a resolution of 2700×1224.
In terms of system, both models come pre-installed with Hongmeng OS 2.0.
Focus on smart photography
The core selling point of the P50 series is still photography. This time, the P series rear camera adopts the "Universal Dual Ring" design, which is to place the rear camera in two dual-ring modules.
The P50's dual-ring module has three cameras in total - the upper ring contains the main wide-angle lens and the ultra-wide-angle lens. The lower ring has a 5x telephoto lens.
The specifications of the three cameras of P50 are as follows:
-
50MP primary color camera (color, f/1.8 aperture)
-
13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.2 aperture)
-
12MP telephoto camera (f/3.4 aperture, OIS optical image stabilization)
The specifications of the four cameras of the P50 Pro are as follows:
-
50MP primary color camera (color, f/1.8 aperture, OIS optical image stabilization)
-
40-megapixel primary color camera (black and white, f/1.6 aperture)
-
13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.2 aperture)
-
64-megapixel telephoto camera (f/3.5 aperture, OIS optical image stabilization)
In addition to the upgrade in hardware specifications, the P50 Pro is also equipped with XD Fusion Pro, which introduces a super light filter system, primary color engine and ultra dynamic range.
Through computational optics, Huawei P50 can restore the details lost in the imaging process as much as possible to achieve higher clarity.
Yu Chengdong said that Huawei P50 uses a "global" image information restoration system, which retains 81% of the image information.
In addition, by correcting light errors and restoring details, the P50 Pro 3.5x optical zoom lens can achieve imaging effects that are no less than 10x physical optical zoom.
To retain users, provide old mobile phone upgrades
At the press conference, Yu Chengdong also revealed that more than 40 million users have now upgraded to Hongmeng OS 2.0.
At the end of the press conference, Huawei launched a "benefit" for old customers:
Old Huawei users whose mobile phones do not have enough memory can now go to the Huawei after-sales center to join the memory upgrade service for only 369 yuan. The plan can be joined from Mate9 to Mate10, and from P10 to P30.
From once being the first in the domestic mobile phone market share to now falling out of the top five, the most important task for Huawei mobile phones at present is to survive.
Faced with the situation where there is no 5G available for new mobile phones, Huawei can only choose to upgrade old users and retain as many existing users as possible.
Foreign media The Verge also pointed out the dilemma of Huawei mobile phones overseas. Due to the continued lack of Google services, it is unclear whether the P50 will be sold overseas.
Can you accept the P50 without a charger or data cable included and without 5G support?
