Expert Technical Article: How Fast is Your Amplifier?
The field of industrial data acquisition is extremely diverse and includes the measurement of temperature, pressure, humidity, strain, and various other physical phenomena. Operational amplifiers are an integral part of the signal conditioning circuits typically found in industrial control and automation applications.
These amplifiers provide the basic building blocks that can be used to buffer, amplify and/or filter signals. In addition, these measurements may need to be made under harsh conditions such as extreme temperatures, centrifugal forces and electrically noisy environments.
System designers must devote their efforts to designing appropriate signal conditioning circuits to handle these environments and should not overlook the speed of their op amps.
