New Product Express | Littelfuse Compact 650VDC Cartridge Fuse Provides Enhanced Overcurrent Protection for High Voltage Applications
Suitable for protecting VFDs, PV inverters, DC-DC converters and high voltage power supplies
Littelfuse has introduced the 507 Series fuse tube. This 600VDC ceramic tube fuse has an interrupting current of 150A at 650VDC and is housed in a compact 6x32mm package. The high DC voltage rating combined with the 1A to 8A current rating makes it an ideal choice for overcurrent protection of high-voltage DC circuits. As circuits must handle higher and higher power densities, these miniaturized high-voltage fuses are the optimal solution for overcurrent protection of DC power supplies.
The 507 Series fuses are available in standard cartridge and axial lead designs, are RoHS compliant and 100% lead-free. Typical applications for the 507 Series include overcurrent protection for various variable frequency drives (VFDs), photovoltaic (PV) inverters, DC-DC converters, and high voltage power supplies.
“We designed the 507 Series fuse specifically to meet the needs of the industrial systems market,” said Tim Patel, global strategic marketing manager for the Industrial 4.0 market at Littelfuse. “Our goal was to provide circuit designers with a product option that delivers the highest power to the motor in the smallest package size.”
All 507 Series fuses have the following key benefits:
• Provides complete overcurrent protection for high-voltage DC circuits, such as those found in VFDs, motor drives, and power inverters, due to its high 650V DC voltage rating, 150A interrupting current rating at 650VDC, and compact 6x32mm package. • Suitable for
DC circuits in photovoltaic (PV) inverters and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) operating at up to 650VDC with short-circuit currents up to 150A.
• Small package size reduces the difficulty of creating compact designs for power conversion equipment that requires higher operating efficiency.
• With current ratings from 1A to 8A, it is well suited for most 200V-class and 400V-class VFDs on the market.
• Wide operating temperature range (-55°C to 125°C) provides reliable protection in extremely high operating ambient temperatures.
