Kyocera Corporation (President: Hideo Tanimoto, hereinafter referred to as "Kyocera") has developed its second concept car, "Moeye", and applied Kyocera's unique technologies and various components to the car to optimize the driving experience by integrating human vision, hearing, touch and smell.
About the concept car "Moeye"
As autonomous driving and MaaS (Mobility as a Service) continue to gain popularity, Kyocera has focused on the highly valued interior space of vehicles and developed a vehicle with a futuristic cabin that can bring surprises and comfort to people and has a completely original design.
A representative feature of this concept car is the function developed in cooperation with Professor Masahiko Inami of the Center for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Tokyo, which uses unique optical camouflage technology to make part of the cabin transparent, thereby expanding the passenger's field of vision.
In addition, the concept car is also equipped with various Kyocera original components, which can bring people wonderful visual, tactile, auditory and olfactory experiences. As a car, it not only ensures the important function of safety, but also has entertainment value. It is a work that embodies Kyocera's future automotive concept.
① Aerial display screen (Kyocera's unique technology)
The projected image of the high-performance LCD screen is imaged so that the original character "Yinosuke" appears clearly and realistically in the space above the dashboard, allowing passengers to enjoy a more pleasant navigation service.
The sunroof and door lights use Kyocera's unique LED lighting CERAPHIC, which produces bio-friendly light close to natural light. CERAPHIC can customize the spectrum, thereby shaping more delicate colors, which is difficult to achieve with ordinary LED lighting.
CERAPHIC can freely adjust the interior lighting by simulating natural light in the morning and evening, thus creating a comfortable interior space.
The inside of the door is decorated with Kyoto cat's eye stones produced by Kyocera, and the center console is decorated with artificial opal, making the advanced interior space even more luxurious.
HAPTIVITY<Kyocera original technology>
HAPTIVITY (tactile transmission technology) is applied to the instrument panel and center console, which can generate tiny vibrations through the pressure generated by touching the panel with a finger, transmit click sounds, and link with the operation on the user interface to produce the tactile feeling of pressing a button. It allows passengers to operate the touch instrument panel in a natural and intuitive way that traditional touch panel displays cannot imitate.
Vibration Speaker<Kyocera Original Technology>
Vibration speakers equipped with piezoelectric elements are installed to provide powerful sound in the cabin, creating a more comfortable sound space for the ears. Vibration speakers are also installed in the headrests to provide clearer sound to the passengers' ears.
Up to five types of aroma can be sprayed into the car, and passengers can choose the fragrance according to their mood to create a happy and comfortable interior space.
Mr. Ryuhei Ishimaru, President and CEO of Fortmarei Co., Ltd., which was responsible for the design of "Moeye", gave a speech:
"The design theme of Moeye is 'time'. The concept car is designed to provide an experience that spans the entire history of automobile development, from 'tradition' to 'the future of automobiles' as described by Kyocera.
The overall outline of the concept car's exterior is based on the structure of a classic car, but the details are handled with geometric shapes to create a sense of the future. In addition, the interior uses Kyocera's most advanced technology, with a novel form and a classic and warm texture. The cockpit design adopts a futuristic minimalist design, which is very suitable for experiencing virtual reality technology. This concept car allows people to feel the tradition and future of the car with their five senses not only through the design of the appearance but also through the selection of materials.
Masaaki Inagaki, Senior Executive Officer, Research and Development Director, Kyocera Corporation:
Kyocera has demonstrated a futuristic car cabin and a fully original design vehicle that can bring surprise and comfort to people through the concept car "Moeye". It is a brand-new and surprising achievement. By fully combining a large number of Kyocera's original components and technologies, a concept car that can bring beautiful visual, tactile, auditory and olfactory experiences to people has been created.
Kyocera will continue to research and develop components and technologies for autonomous driving, contribute to the realization of a safe, secure and comfortable mobile life, and provide more concepts for future cars and new user experiences.
